| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 7, 2007 Bottle, 50 cl. Clear copper, medium creamy beige head. Toffeish and slightly roasted malt aroma with some notes of wood. Alcohol well masked, even though the beer was a bit too warm when I could take the first sip. Medium bodied, very smooth mouthfeel with a moderate carbonation. well balanced with a clear malt sweetness which is never cloying, and a gentle bitterness in the finish. iep (229), Amsterdam, Netherlands
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 6, 2007 Light colored for a doppelbock; reddish copper body with a rapidly fading head and little lacing. Malty aroma with caramel, yeast, cherry, and some alcohol. Solid taste of sweet malt with moderate bitterness. Strong alcohol in the finish. Well-rounded but a bit boring. Not as hearty as Andechser’s Doppelbock & not as unique as Weihenstephaner’s Korbinian. Still quite tasty. Lively & sturdy mouthfeel. Yer average doppelbock. Nice. Maverick34 (701), New York, USA

In a blind smell test I’d certainly pick this out as a weiss. Nutty aroma with what smells like a proper French eclair...or any brioche bread. Flavour is similar with some slight brandy notes. Tart finish. Appearance is red-amber, not much head or lacing.
