This beer poured a dark amber/brown with HUGE almost out of control head. I had to pour like three times just to get it to fit into my glass. The taste was typical sweet dunkle taste (which I’m not fond of) maybe a tad on the thin side (which, if you aren’t a big fan of style isn’t a bad thing). Got a little better as it warmed. Pour is a muddy orange-brown with a thin head of white froth. Aroma is sweet, cloves and some banana. Similar to the Julius Echter I had just before, but the flavors don’t seem as fresh. Still quite tasty. gnoff (3576), Göteborg, Sweden

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 9, 2007 35.5 cL bottle. Aroma of clove with underlying banane. Slightly hazy copper color with a head that’s fine bubble and humongous. A bit thin bodied. Clove start with banana following strongly. There is a slight caramel malt sweetness. The finish is clove and banana. Good stuff. jkoch (41), USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 8, 2007 Poured a nice amber from a 500ml bottle. Two fingers of off-white head. Looks kind of like a cloudy iced tea. Aroma is clove and banana. Taste is clove and slight banana. Very mild. I cuold drink several of these on a hot day, but nothing special really. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 7, 2007 Draught at "Steak Frites" NYC. Had with a sauteed monkfish with a raspberry sauce....a result of my amateurish attempt at beer-food pairing (though it basically worked out fairly well I thought). Amber/brown color w/ a frothy head and a mild yeasty (banana/clove) aroma. Dark quickbread to cookie malt flavor with some more banana yeast and underlying appley (even cidery) tartness. Moderate carbonation in a medium body. Pretty good when all was said and done. jimhilt (1692), Bow, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 26, 2007 From my notes 6/7/07 - Pours a two-finger off-white head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving some lace. Cloudy amber color. Yeasty/raisin nose. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Flavor is yeasty and bready, clean finish. €2.90 ($3.97) for a 0.5L glass on-tap from Cafe 7 Numero Heidelberg, Germany.
