Fruity with a taste of spiced cookies, cloves, banana’s. Good as a easier to find german export. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 5, 2005 Rich sweet malty nose. Brown sugar and bananas, clove and allspice. Mild carbonic-hoppy tang. Gingerbread dough. Mahoghany or chestnut in color, cloudy with small dark chunks floating beneath an off-white foamy lacing head. Medium watery body with heavy carbonation. Starts with a carbonic tang from the heavy carbonation, a distraction. After that subsides, the more mellow sweet maltiness comes out. Notes of brown sugar, gingerbread and banana. Watery overall, with a bit of fruity hops. Finish is mildly bitter, but more from the carbonation aspect than of strong hops. After has mellow malty sweetness and banana. A decent dunkelweizen, but I think next time I’d like to have it by the liter in München.
