Tastes slightly metallic and bananish. Very weird "basic" (in the pH sense) mouthfeel. Feels slimy. Wheaty and kinda sweet. The flavor is not bad, but that metallic taste isn’t pleasant. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a medium brown color with a small brown head. The aroma was sweet wheat malt and a hint of lemon. The flavor was dark malt with strong wheat undertones and a bit of sourness. There is not much citrus in the flavor but there is a nice hop presence. Overall I liked this one quite a bit and will probably seek it out again. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Not a good example of something yummy... darkerdabetter (255), Michigan, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 8, 2004 Hazy, copper body with a thick, tan head. Interesting spicy, wheat nose with cinnamon, clove, banana, a touch of both chocolate and banana. The yeast is present, but seems to be more sour than fruity. The body is exactly what I expected: thicker than the typical hefeweizen, but not too thick, and not sticky or harsh. The flavor is reminiscent of the aroma, but with subdued spice and more rounded sweetness. The wheaty, grainy malt comes through here more so than in the nose. The finish carries a unique sour element that keeps this from being too one-dimensional. A more rounded flavor set and a touch more fruitiness would make this world class. Probiere (992), Iowa, USA

That rating stands until I try it again, but THIS beer was very, very nice. Thick banana in yeast, good color and head, hint of clove, touch of syrupy sweetness, wheaty tang, slightly sour finish, balanced. Drinkable. Good. iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 30, 2004 500 mL bottle: orange, autumn coloured body. Stiff, fluffy head that has good retention. Bready, buttered toffee, and spiced banana aroma. Full clove flavour wraps up sweet banana malts, lightly honey hops, and a subtle citrus tang into a tasty package. Long, sourish finish that is slightly acidic, but pleasant no less. Solid Dunkel.
