Similar to a decent pils, though lacking in the subtle sweetness. A little one note, but not disappointing. Maybe a little lemon. HighlanderOne (541), Somewherein, New Jersey, USA

What a surprise when I tried it. Pours cloudy, at first from bottle, then clears beautifully. Nice, fresh malt aroma that persists as you drink. Way complex for a German beer. I detect pepper, spice and vanilla with the malt and hops. Head dissipates, but lacing drifts down the glass. Flavor persists as the beer warms, leading to a mellow finish. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 26, 2005 Pours light golden with a mostly receding white head, lively carbonation. Aroma is bready with clean maltiness. Taste is a delicate balance between the lager yeast and lightly toasted malts. Not as good as the Dortmunder Gold, but an excellent session beer regardless. caledonian (367), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 16, 2005 Light golden color, fair head. Corn aroma and flavors are an unexpected disappointment. At least it goes down fairly smooth, with not too much of an aftertaste. A notch above most similar tasting imports and macros. shorn (6), USA does not count | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 14, 2005 Had this while living in Wisconsin, bought cases of various Hacker-Pschorr styles, but this one was different enough to remember. I could drink it like water, and I wasn’t getting stone drunk. I felt like a trooper for the long haul, good thing i ran out of it. Couldn’t imagine it was 5.5% after reading it here. It could of just been something that night, but it was out of the ordinary within a very ordinary drinking session. mmanthe (12), Clemson, South Carolina, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 3, 2005 Average gold body topped with a thick but diminishing white bubbly head. It exhales a strong but rather unidimensional hoppy/herbal aroma. The taste presents the same caracteristics, plys some bready notes. It ends with a sharp bitter/hoppy finish. Good export Helles. I’ll go get more at the Beer Store in order to fill my Mass. Hooker (450), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada
