Half an inch of creamy white head gathers atop the clear, medium straw body. Fairly bready nose is lightly sweet, gently spicy, and pleasant. Sweet, grainy, bready maltiness is front and center in the flavor, with a modest bitterness far in the background, but still helping to balance the beer somewhat. This works for me because the sweetness is milder compared to other beers in this style. Body is light-medium and doesn’t tire out my palate like some other helles lagers. This will never be a favorite style for me, but this beer seems to be one of the better ones imported into my neck of the woods. heykevin (1269), Iowa City, Iowa, USA

Moderate bitterness, sugar coated honey pilsner malt quite nice actually. Some real sticky juicy malt here. Soft and clean. I can imagine drinking these by the mass. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 17, 2005 Bottle (500ml). Poured light hazy bubbly gold with a big tight-packed white foamy-creamy lasting head - bubbling action continued quite a long time. Aroma is very faint, soap, lemon-citrus, wheat, some sweet malt - almost smells like limoncello. Taste is also lemon, a bit like lemon drops, with some hop bitterness knocking down the fruity sweetness - yeasty and very pleasant, actually. Mouthfeel is a touch watery, sticky and initially quite lively, although it flattens out a little too soon. Kevin (1918), Colorado, USA

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Sep 7, 2005 Sampled from bottle. This helles pours clear, pale gold with a thich, frothy white head. Aroma is a tad sour with some grassy/citrus hops. Balanced flavor with nutty malts and subtle grassy/citrus hops. Sourness lingers. Medium-bodied, moderately carbonated and would have been easy to swallow save the sourness. Perhaps the brewers at Rahr and Schlafly could teach these German brewers how to make a proper helles? :) TipsyMcStager (928), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 25, 2005 slightly skunky aroma with faint malt. Pours a golden yellow, carbonated, thin white head. Watery. Grassy middle. Slight alcohol finish. I’d rather have their hefe. Fiend (104), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Aug 22, 2005 Skunky aroma with a nice golden color. Thin white head...highly carbonated...not the least bit creamy as per the description. A light flavor with a hint of vinegar mixed with hops. Not a bad beer but based on the style I think it was lacking in the malt department.
