Soft, bready aroma; some floral hops if you stick your nose way down in the glass. Smooth, light-to-medium bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel. Sweet malt flavor, with enough hops to add a bitter edge to the finish. Gratifying. tronraner (1939), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 6, 2007 Bottle. pours pale yellow with a greenish hue, with one finger of fizzy white head and lots of bubbles. The aroma is malty, with muffins and lemon juice, a little bit of hay. The flavor is hay, zest, corn-muffins, and mild noble hops toward the finish. It dries out a bit in the aftertaste. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 31, 2007 Very sweet, candylike, grainy aroma with lavender and fresh cut grass. Brilliantly clear golden body is topped by a very shy white head that recedes to a very thin partial cover. Assertive crisp bitterness keeps the candylike malts in check. Aftertaste leaves impressions of hay and wildflowers. Light body with moderate carbonation that could stand to be punched up a notch. Perhaps this didn’t make the trip from Germany so well? Boy, it is sure hard to figure out what Hacker you have by the listings on the HP site, the names rarely match up exactly. 12 oz brown bottle. Date code on the neck of this bottle is 1417, aged well. The pour of this is just like any other ubiquitous pale yellow american beer. Constant steams of fine bubble are rising from within. A beery smell combined with candy sweetish aroma that makes it attractive to whiff. Very attractive olfactory compared to other dorts. Initially this brew comes across medium strong but it then develops into a refined lager flavor. Very little bitterness can be detected but there is some hints in there that at least lets you know you are drinken a beer. Very little lacing on the side of the glass. This beer is not quite as good as Lowenbrau for a dort, but is much better than Victory V Lager, Hereford & Hops Dortmunder and Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold. Overall an enjoyable brew but there are many other american lagers that can match this for flavor and are much less expensive.

In aroma, a strong aroma of wet mash, hot from the tun, with light hopping. In mouth, a grainy beer, with loads of malt, sweet with mineral notes, and some crisp german hops. A bit short again. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 22, 2007 Average beer in my opinion. Poured a 500ml bottle. Fairly non-existant head and a typical golden appearance. Hoppy nose and same hoppy taste. Average palate, not much mouth feel, slightly bitter. Overall, average, and I don’t think I’d purchase it again with all the other beers out there. altabessie (5), Lisle, Illinois, USA does not count | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 14, 2007 Clean tasting, balanced hopps, holds a head well in the glass. For the money (7.99 a 6 pack) it’s a value.
