Had at Lowenhaus in Rome. Poured clear dark gold with huge manilla foamy head. Looks delicious. Aroma malty, slightly boozy with a bit of banana. Flavor too watery, slight sweetness, grassy dry finish Overall, could be much better.

Quindi vai col malto sulla lingua e l’alcool sul palato._______________ENGLISH TEXT HERE____________Not exceptional heller bock by Hacker-Pschorr, tasted on tap at Kapuziner in Arquata Scrivia; a little watery, it hides its abv in a final blow which shows how badly balanced it is. Anyway no one seems to have complained, so this would go on; finale is not sour, it’s alcohol. So carry on with the malt on the tongue and alcohol on the palate.

Bottle. Clear, a bit pale golden, with a nice, white head leaving lacings. Malty sweetness and some hops in the aroma. Quite fruity-sweet and malty flavor, nicely balanced, but there’s something missing, it’s a bit too weak for a bock. Medium to full body. Sweet, malty and slightly grassy finish. I normally prefer the dunkler bocks, and this one does nothing to change that preferance, yet it is a quite nice one.(070528)

Bottled. A yellow beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of straw. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, it is a bit thin for a bock - and hence doesn’t kick ass.

Tap at the Wicked Hop. Pours to a transparent golden body with lots of active carbonation. A dense white head and nice lacing sits on top. The flavor is very toasty. Nice light grassy/tangy hops atop a moderate toasty malt. The flavor is quite good. The aroma is your typical Maibock. Malty, lightly hoppy. The palate is smooth. Moderately bodied. Nicely textured. Good overall beer.
