Dark in color, malty nose, generous flavor; yet with a clean, hoppy finish, Hacker-Pschorr Alt Munich Dark is the essence of dark beers.

The DM & Hotstuff’s European Honeymoon trip beer number 63. This bottled brew from the Landidyll-Hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen Germany poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized off-white colored mostly diminishing bubbles that left behind a carbonated transparent brown colored body and a poor lacing. The aroma was a mild brown malt one. The mouth feel was initially tingly mildly vinous and finished with a mild caramel malt note. The flavor contained semi sweet notes of brown and caramel malts.

Dark red and brown with an off-white lacy head of foam. Aromas are toffe and fruit malts, especially berries. Flavours are sweet toffee malts, chocolate and berries. Very smooth with more chocolate than I first though. Some dry hops on finish followed by a good level of bitterness. Went down nicely.

A decent "dark" beer, comparable to others in its class but not really a stand-out. I had the draft version.

Attractive, translucent, reddish brown color with a generous amount of finely beaded bubbles. Tasting confirmed the malt and chocolate aroma. A noticeable sweet caramel flavor makes itself noticed soon after. Smooth hop finish.

Strong smell. Like caesar says a good balance between hops and malts. Brown/red coloured, not much head. Taste consists of malts, hopbitter and fruits. Clean, bit bitter palate.

Clear brown color, short lasting creamy head. Balanced aroma of hops and malts, dunkel-like. Sweet malty taste.

My bartender was confused, swore this was an "alt bier"--draught. Nice deep brown with malt aromas. Only a hint of sweetness with nice hops balance.
