Dark in color, malty nose, generous flavor; yet with a clean, hoppy finish, Hacker-Pschorr Alt Munich Dark is the essence of dark beers.

Dark amber. Candy bock yet dry aroma. Reminds me of cherry licorice pipes I used to get at a candy store as a kid. Musty, wellies in a basement. Caramel melting into a sauce, poured over apples. Tingling carbonation. Metallic hints. Not bad as a basic "dark" German beer. (on tap, Flying Saucer, Addison, TX)

Wonderful spring beer. Aroma is mostly grape. Deep malt flavour has a thin mouthfeel and refreshing fruitiness.

On tap. Pours with a light-medium head. Color is clear brown. Smell is awesome, like a rye black bread. Very original. The taste is well balanced with nothing distinct. Body is light medium and finishes smooth.

On tap at the Hessen Haus during the 2006 Crescent Moon Beer Bus Trip. Pours dark brown with an off-white head. Malty roasted aroma. Strong caramel flavors. Maybe even the taste and sweetness of horehound candy. Mild palate. Interesting hop representation. I find this to be a very good bier.

Draught at the Bavaria bräuhaus in München. Red Brown colour with a big beige head. Malty, light fruity aroma and a light sweet dry caramel, fruity, light rye bread taste. Medium to full body with a sweet light dry finish.

Une bière de la très respecté Allemagne qui m’a fait voyager dans les abisse de la dégustation et renforcer mon amour pour la broue...Son teint foncé en dit long sur la kyrielle de saveur annoncé : épices, malte, caramel sont au rendez-vous!

pour a darker copper color, decent smell of malts and spices, flavor is malty with some hoppy presence, good body, not my favorite hacker pschorr, but not bad.
