Commercial Description:
Dark in color, malty nose, generous flavor; yet with a clean, hoppy finish, Hacker-Pschorr Alt Munich Dark is the essence of dark beers.

Dark copper with an average tan head. The aroma is malty, some spice, caramel. Medium body, syrupy texture. The flavor is sweet malt with notes of hops and chocolate.

This is my favorite beer. almost as roasty a and strong as a schwarzbier. Good robust malt character with balanced hops and defining crispness.

Poured ruby brown with a tan head. The head did not last long. Aroma had chocolate, toffee and caramel. A bit of licorice too. The taste was pretty tasty but a bit watery at times. The aftertaste lingers for too long. It is still lingering as a matter of fact. Pretty tasty, but I have had better Dunkels.

Not usually a fan of the Hacker Pschorr beers, but this one was tasty to say the least. Nice auroma with a strong flavor. Would have again.

Yap at Zum Schneider. Ruby brown, clear, tan head. Bready aroma. Malty Munich malt flavor. Malty finish. Really good example of a dunkel.

On draught at Ludwig’s Garten in Philadelphia, PA. Dark brown but clear... not even close to being opaque. Tight head. Malty nose with slight caramel notes. Flavor is overwhelmingly malty but weak finish knocks this down a few rating points.

Draft, grainy caramel, and roasted malts flavors ending with some bitterness. Enjoyable dark beer, maybe the grain flavor was a bit overbearing for me.

Dark yellow to brown color with a small head. Malt dominates the aroma and taste. Slightly sweet finish. Not too bad.
