Awesome retention. This head lasts and lasts. Mild grass/hay with subtle malts. Very mildly hopped and slightly perfumey. Tastes are right in line with the aroma. Soft malt spine with mild grassy/hoppy flavours and a spalsh of rose petals. Very soft and subtle, very sessionable, very drinkable. Once you can learn to appreciate the subtlities in this one, it all opens up. Thanks for getting this one in Milos! Slacks (488), Bolton, Ontario, Canada
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 14, 2006 Draught @ beerbistro: Being billed by the bar as "Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfestbier", I hope it’s this one. Pousr yellow with almost no head, retention, or lacing. Bready aroma with some citrus and malt. Flavour is better than it sounds, but still comes across my senses as bread, corn, lemon, and malts. Some relatively hidden hopping leaves a bitter aftertaste. Not horrible, but I’m in no rush to try it again. pootzboy (1048), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 3, 2006 Updated: Oct 14, 2006On tap at the castle in Kitchener Ontario Canada....so much for the Europe-only exclusivity of this beer.
Tapped a brilliant gold with a tight 2 finger white cap...laced the glass well.
Aromas of bread and wet hay, some light citrus
Sufficient malt spine, creamy mouth feel, medium body, rounded malty character.
Biscuity malts up front have a light toast to them... some sweetness which is quickly balanced with herbal-lemony nobel hopping...wet finish is malt pronounced with a biscuity-lemon after taste.
This is not a true Oktioberfest marzen as it is too light in taste and body....to be truthful, this is a heavier maltier version of H-S edelhell...a sort of golden Munich lager...and although it is a good lager it is still not an Oktoberfest marzen in character. bobaidan (370), Farmington, Connecticut, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 2, 2006 Fom tap: Light orangeish color with a nice head. Aroma is malty, but weak. Flavor is on, but nothing exceptional. Malt prevails but is not as strong as in the better Octoberfest beers. stubby (326), Santee, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 30, 2006 Let me start by saying that oktoberfest might be my favorite lager style. My opinion is biased. I like the toasty aroma of this one. Probably less bittering hops than some, making for a smooth quaffability that I find hard to resist. Fantastic with pizza. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 2, 2006 On tap at Pub Italia. Golden coloured with lacing white head. Sweet perfumey malt in aroma, with light soapy hops. In mouth, crisp biscuity malts, with faint german hops, lacking in character. Hohum beer. rdawson321 (145), USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 6, 2005 Pretty good casual brew. Simple on the palate, easy to drink. Not as good as some Octoberfests, but enjoyable nonetheless. tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Oct 11, 2005 I’m pretty sure this is what Beer Bistro has on tap right now, despite the description here (keeping in mind we did get this version in Toronto last year). Anyway, not really a big deal has it is pretty average - bad. Slightly sweet and a few hops in aroma. Light yellow (looked like any standard macro lager to me), thin small white head. Harsh corny sweet taste. Lingering bitterness. This was a tough one to drink the whole glass of with an otherwise fantastic dinner - followed it up with a fresh pint of Church Key Holy Smoke (when it is fresh on draught one of the best Ontario beers you can get IMHO) and preceded it with Mill St. Oktoberfest, (which was fantastic), so all was not lost!
