They gave away free mugs, paraded out the roast pig and sauerkraut, and flew in a handful of kegs of the Oktoberfest Lager, which is normally only found at the Oktoberefest in Munich. (Shhh...don't tell the dozens of people over at Beer Advocate who've all rated the Marzen under the Lager listing by mistake!). Golden colour, robust foam. Light aroma - some toasty notes. Crackerlike maltiness, with a little complexity contributed by pale Munich or Vienna malts. No hop aroma or flavour, but a little bit of dryness in the finish. No caramel, unlike the Marzen. Unfortunately, this confirms what I've heard about the Oktoberfest beers at the actual Oktoberfest being bland pale lagers rather than the robust Marzens that are sent overseas. Nice to get to try it, but the Marzen is the better beer. pivnizub (5028), Bochum, Porúří, Germany

Thought I detected some fruity notes in the flavour. Aroma was fairly subtle. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA

This draft brew in a 1 liter maß from the beer tent at the Oktoberfest in Munich Germany was my first maß. It had a very large sized head of white colored foamy fine to large sized long lasting bubbles that left behind a softly carbonated transparent orange colored body. The aroma was a typical mild malty lager one. The mouth feel was mildly tingly and the flavor contained notes of mild orange peel and malts. A very nice malty flavor, but I expected more. joss (3671), Garching b. München, Germany
