The nose was of toasted malt and a floral/fruity hoppiness. The tatse starts with sweet malts, dark breads and some hints of toffee. Mild to medium bitters come next offsetting the malts. Tastes sweet, bitter, dry, malty and hoppy all at once. The finish was nutty, smooth and mildly bitter. The feel was moderate due to medium to low carbonation. This was a great session beer, and would do just as well in a large stein. A smooth, simple, malty beer, that’s great anytime. stubby (326), Santee, California, USA

My opinion is biased. I like the toasty aroma of this one. Probably less bittering hops than some, making for a smooth quaffability that I find hard to resist. Fantastic with pizza. Full-flavored with the right amount of bitterness. Refreshing. The beer I ordered was simply called Hacker-Pschorr lager, so I assume this is the same stuff. fluffy (229), Florida, USA

Not much aroma, maybe too cold. Beautiful caramel/orange. Smooth, well balanced. A very, very good beer. pootzboy (1048), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 3, 2006 Updated: Oct 14, 2006On tap at the castle in Kitchener Ontario Canada....so much for the Europe-only exclusivity of this beer.
Tapped a brilliant gold with a tight 2 finger white cap...laced the glass well.
Aromas of bread and wet hay, some light citrus
Sufficient malt spine, creamy mouth feel, medium body, rounded malty character.
Biscuity malts up front have a light toast to them... some sweetness which is quickly balanced with herbal-lemony nobel hopping...wet finish is malt pronounced with a biscuity-lemon after taste.
This is not a true Oktioberfest marzen as it is too light in taste and body....to be truthful, this is a heavier maltier version of H-S edelhell...a sort of golden Munich lager...and although it is a good lager it is still not an Oktoberfest marzen in character. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 11, 2009 Draught at Rhino, Toronto. Someone really needs to change the Commercial Description, as this beer is available in several locations in Toronto and area, often alongside the Marzen, as it was at Rhino. Bright yellow-aroma, good sized white head. Well balanced aroma of fresh bread hints of honey and barley, and some herbal hop character. Very active carbonation, quite refreshing. Fresh and well-balanced flavour, with the herbal/grassy hops complimenting the sweet and slghtly grainy malt. Pretty nice stuff, flavourful and easy to drink.
