I’m curious as to why they would make three separate Oktoberfestbiers but that is up to them, not me. Orangy amber color, medium sized off white head that disappated. Medium strength aroma, some bread, a bit of caramel. Flavor takes on some nutty characteristics to go along with with bread and caramel. Body is a little light. I guess it’s okay but it really doesn’t hold up too well in comparison with some other marzens. jbrus (4916), Delft, Netherlands

Nice malty aroma but that’s it, nothing else there. Amber color, beige head, fair lace. Sweet and malty start but the maltiness dies fast leaving just the sweetness and light hops, medium bodied. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 30, 2005 Updated: Nov 5, 2006I liked this one as much as any Octoberfest / Oktoberfest I have tried. Good clear copper with a huge tan head. Good nose of sweet malts and spices. Taste of sweet malt, not much bitterness, but good clovey spicey citrus complexity, surprising in an Oktoberfest and surprising given the other reviews. // I had this again, this time in its non-marzen alias, AKA original oktoberfest. Not nearly as interesting ... and I am not convinced that the two are really different names for the same beer. jhliesen (406), West Melbourne, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 29, 2005 Bottle--Orange, amber appearance with a small head that settles and disappears. Nice balance of the malt and hops without either being overbearing. Caramel tasting, good, but not as good as I hoped. EKGoldings (447), Radford, Virginia, USA

Rerate. When served warmer than I like it picks up more character and malt.
Rerate: when warmed up a but this beer is actually decent. I probably had a bad batch first time I rated, not bad. PattyBoy (302), North Liberty, Iowa, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 26, 2005 Pours burnt copper, with a thin white head. Nose is sweet and caramel. Flavor sweet caramel, slightly bready, mild. Finish was metallic and slightly bitter. Not bad, but I was expecting more from a beer that had a German sounding name. ivan9856 (131), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 23, 2005 The longneck bottle pours a dark amber body with an average off white head that fades rapidly. The nose is heavy on the sweet, caramel malt side with a slight hazelnut-like aroma and mild hops. Palate entry is sweet, rounding out in the mid-palate with roasted Munich malts and some mild buttery nut flavors. Medium bodied and average carbonation. Finish is short-lived and lightly drying. Earlier Rating: 12/2/2003 Total Score: 3.8 This lager pours clear and light amber in color. There is a small and quickly dissipating tan-colored head and a sweet malty nose. The initial palate is quite sweet, but rounds out nicely to a flavorful, caramelized malted barley and full-bodied mid-palate. I tasted notes of raisins and honey. The finish is appropriately drying but mild and not bitter. I would probably prefer more hops in the finish, but this is a classic Bavarian Märzen style Oktoberfest lager.
