kimcgolf (822), Dacula, Georgia, USA May 12, 2009 Poured from the 500 ml flip-top to a cloudy burnt orange with thin off-white head and okay lacing. Aroma was a nice blend of wheat bread, cookie dough clove and a hint of apples. Unfrotunately, the nose was the hiogh point for me. Mouthfeel was thin and somewhat watery, the taste was only a hint of the flavors found in the nose, and the finish short and a tad metallic.
Nice touch with the bottle, but the beer was only so-so. beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA May 9, 2009 Sampled on 5/9/2009. This hefe-weizen pours a dark gold color from a 500ml flip top bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head with decent lacing. The aroma is fruity and sweet, touch of banana and clove. A medium to light bodied hefe. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. A touch of clove and more banana. The hops are earthy. A touch oxidized. The color also seems a little off. Carbonation seems a touch flat. Kind of sweet. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. stobbe74 (655), Denmark May 8, 2009 Bottle, 50cl. Pours a slightly unclear golden beer with an offwhite head. The aroma is malt, fruit and wheat. The flavor almost follows the nose with malt fruits and esters. The palate is overcarbonated and a thin body. Just below average beer. BBB63 (4198), La Porte, Indiana, USA May 8, 2009 Flip top bottle and served in Ayinger Hefeweizen glassware: Pours a surprisingly murky orangy amber hue topped by a fluffy slightly off-white head, good lacework. The aroma has notes of clove, lemongrass, clove, white pepper, wheat and doughy malts and some musty esters. The taste starts with sweet caramel malt and red wheat, minor spice tones and an overall yeasty profile. What is missing is an overall crispness and refreshment I want from the genre. This brew seemed almost too bready and chewy, close to a dunkel in feel than a hefe. Failed to meet expections honestly, not in the same class of the better German Hefeweizens available. yobdoog (1420), Woodridge NY, New York, USA May 6, 2009 Golden orange color, dense with a fluffy head. Aroma is bready with spice and some citrus and banana. Taste is very earthy and sweet. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA May 2, 2009 Bottle: Deep honey/orange color with a fading off white head. The aroma has lots of dry phenolics with a caramelized sweet wheat presence- honey clove, and light banana. Simple. Light body- a bit over carbonated IMO- some chalky mineral notes- clove, light oxidation blend with a caramel and banana note. Dusty and dull- as well as a bit too sweet. This bottle seemed past its prime. monkeychugg55 (213), Joliet, Illinois, USA Apr 7, 2009 Pours a cloudy mahogany (medium-brown) with a big soapy head. Smells like Hacker’s evil fraternal twin, similar, but darker, with more of a toasted malt character to it. Retains the same banana/clove just with a little bit darker malt. Different, but not. Think I prefer the norm compared to this...not as good as the original, but no t bad. AskForJenny (627), Ontario, New York, USA Apr 2, 2009 0.5l - Cloudy, cider-like appearance, bread nose, bread palate with some wood. DNF
