esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Mar 22, 2009 Murky orange to peach with a medium white head that doesn’t stay the course. Aroma of spicy yeast, clove, fruit and toasted malt. Medium palate has fruit, yeast and clove for flavors and is a bit dry on the finish. It started out great but kind of ended up being a bit of a letdown. It was good and all, but I prefer the regular hefeweizen to this one. ratman197 (3137), Arvada, Colorado, USA Mar 18, 2009 Swing top bottle poured a cloudy amber with a small lasting ivory head. Aromas of carmel, graininess, light bubblegum and light clove. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, light graininess and hints of bubblegum and spice with a smooth carmely finish. FunkyBrewster (436), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 13, 2009 Bottle. Pours dark hazy glowing orange with a small white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is heavy on the yeast and some very soft and weak banana. Some sugary bubblegum notes well. but little hop character. Flavor stats out with a slight citrus quicker before softening into a banana candy light sweetness. Gains a bit of yeast in the finish and stays mostly sweet with just a hint of hop character. My main beef with the beer is in the very active carbonation with overwhelms the subtle complexities. Other than that it might be a 3.3 or 3.4, so not bad. Pretty refreshing though. fata2683 (836), Panama City, Florida, USA Mar 12, 2009 bottle, pours hazy amber, tall off white to light tan head. Great aromas of bread, yeast and some light bannana notes. Creamy mouth with light carbonation lets through some nice light malt and light roasted malt with a light bitter finish that is more spice than hop. Not bad. satan165 (541), River Grove, Illinois, USA Mar 8, 2009 aroma of yeast and some small esters. appearance is slightly darker and also more cloudy then regular hacker or other similar weizen. flavor is fruity but the surprise is hops, or some other general bitterness that is sharp on the center of the tounge, where a standard weizen would feel more round and smooth on the palate. mouthfeel is not as coating and lingering compared to standard hacker. overall a nice departure, more substantial and heavy then the regular old fare. FatPhil (3446), Espoo, Finland Mar 4, 2009 500ml bottle (BeerAngel.de)
Deep amber brown, brief foamy head. Yeasty wheaty aroma, some banana. Refreshing carbonation. Slightly mushroomy twist to the yeasty banana taste. Some later toffee too, and hops which started buddy, but then became papery. Finish has a bit of all of the tastes, but is quite muted. Fairly refreshing brew. jfb (413), Weihenstephan, Germany Feb 25, 2009 (bottle) pours a murky amber-brown colour with a foamy off-white head. aroma of wheat and banana with a hint of clove. flavour is the same, mostly wheat. medium body and carbonation. pantani (1894), Salinas, California, USA Feb 22, 2009 Lightly foggy amber, with a thin white head.
