500mL bottle (Mar 08 bottling). Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted bread, cookie), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with a note of banana, light notes of clove and peach. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Clearly an Ur-Weisse, for those who care about such things. A good one at that, but a little short of exciting.

swing top bottled. surprising that more people haven´t rated this. very murky and quite a dark shade of amber. aroma of vanilla and icing sugar and the onion i was chopping before i opened this. plenty of banana flavour and caramel and a surprisingly quite bitter finish, warming and dry. interesting stuff

Light amber color; quite hazy, with multifinger beige head. Aroma of wheat, spice and citrus. Medium body with mild, creamy carbonation. Flavor is mildly spice, dark wheat with hints of citrus and light banana. Finishes mildly banana and lightly spicey. better than the average.

A very cloudy dark amber body with a large ogg white head. The aroma has some bananas and mangos. There is also some strong clove. The taste has some bananas and strong clove. There was also some nice floral quality, like roses. A very well done hefe that I enjoyed more than most I have had in the style.

Flip top bottle and served in Ayinger Hefeweizen glassware: Pours a surprisingly murky orangy amber hue topped by a fluffy slightly off-white head, good lacework. The aroma has notes of clove, lemongrass, clove, white pepper, wheat and doughy malts and some musty esters. The taste starts with sweet caramel malt and red wheat, minor spice tones and an overall yeasty profile. What is missing is an overall crispness and refreshment I want from the genre. This brew seemed almost too bready and chewy, close to a dunkel in feel than a hefe. Failed to meet expections honestly, not in the same class of the better German Hefeweizens available.

Sampled from 500 ml bottle and shared by JK. Pours a hazy orange amber brew with a thick off-white head that has some nice retention and spotty lacing. Aroma of sweet golden grain and caramel malts, banana ester, a touch of clove, and some light raisin. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonated with flavors of light fruity character, banana esters, cloves and a little green apple. Finish has a nice balance of dry malt and banana yeast aftertaste flavors.

A very decent beer, drinkable, though nothing too memorable. The carbonation and wheat is on the tongue and works with supper. The wheat aroma is there. Not too heady. Fairly fresh from Cleveland.
