| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 16, 2008 Bottle: The aroma is rather weak for a Hefe. There is some light banana, bubblegum, and very faint citrus notes. It pours a hazy orangish-red with a one inch off-white head that lasts a minute or so. It really doesn’t look too much like a Hefe. The flavor starts with with some light caramel and banana. The finish has some light tangy wheat notes. I don’t notice any clove. Medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel and mild carbonation. It’s drinkable and slightly refreshing, but a rather bland example of a Hefeweizen. 1FastSTi (2560), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 18, 2008 Flip-top bottle. The beer pours to a murky chestnut colored body with a lively long lasting foamy white head. The aroma reminds me of the Bell’s wheat series. Dark wheat and wheat germ with nice yeasts. The flavor has that tart dark wheat and yeasty unfiltered thing going on. Nice esters. The palate is nice and textured with a tart carbonated feel and medium body. A nice beer. dwyerpg (2537), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 14, 2008 This has a nice aroma. Good cloves. The flavor is very easy drinking. A little wheaty, but doesn’t come on too strong. Good stuff. KAggie97 (2458), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/20 | Jan 17, 2009 Flip-cap bottle. Pours a nice cheddar orange with a frothy head of white. Aroma is copperized banana and clove. Flavor is vegetable garbage with clove, almost as if one bought the beer version of a designer knock-off; in this case it’s the knock-off version of a good German hefeweizen. Average mouthfeel. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 6, 2009 Pour from a 500ml bottle from SL. Wasn’t sure what to expect vs. their standard hefe, and even after this one, still not sure. It seemed more boring than the typical hefe, but that’s about it. The pour was darker than a standard hefe with some orange type hues. The aroma was bananas, strong bread yeasts, light cloves. The flavor followed, a tad muted compared to the brighter examples of the style. Mouthfeel was on the less than average carbonated side of things if anything. drewbeerme (2282), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 4, 2008 500ml bottle. pours hazy amber with white head. aroma is rather doughy, some banana too. flavors are bready and caramel wth lots of clove and some christmas spices finishes it out. mouth feel is a touch heavy and the carbonation is just not lively like you’d want a hefe to be. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 17, 2007 Muddy brown with a fine, off-white head, lasting. Aroma of coriander and banana, nice. Sweet flavor. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 17, 2008 10/22/2008: Hacker-Pschorr Sternweisse has a cloudy, deep amber-gold color with a surprisingly dense and puffy white head. The aroma presents some wheat malt, yeast, and a light spiciness. The flavor is dry with some undertones of smoke (beechwood), banana, and clove with a good level of yeast training behind and a splash of lemon. The body is light and moderately carbonated, but refreshing overall. In the hierarchy of hefes, I would put this somewhere between a regular hefe and a dunkelweizen as there is a bit more malt, yet it is dry in the mid-palate. Overall this is an intriguing wheat beer that is very flavorable and definitely worth drinking time and time again - especially during the Summer months...
