Joeh (1892), Buckinghamshire, England Feb 11, 2008 Bottle. A reasonably standard looking hefeweizen, murky orange with a tight white head and good lacing . It has a sweet aroma with obvious alcohol, some banana, yeast and cereal in the background. Softly flavoured, quite sweet with lots of banana, a touch of spice and maybe even some pear drop/acetone character. I am not a fan of German wheat beers but I find this quite drinkable, even though there is nothing particularly novel about it.
jeffwilliams11 (275), hooterville, Michigan, USA Sep 28, 2008 pours dark orangish color with fast disappearing head. very tart, sharp, spicy flavor. quite refreshing. nice clean finish. cool swing top bottle... hoooray_beer (47), Cranford, New Jersey, USA Sep 26, 2008 A fluffy head quickly disapated. The color is a dirty unapealing brown. The aroma is made up of a simple banana, slight spice and yeast. The flavor is the same with a quick vanilla caramel note held by a frothy fullness. It finishes with a orange zest and champagne like dryness that makes it very refreshing. There is no aftertaste to speak of. I like it. Cornfield (4332), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Sep 25, 2008 500ml from Binny-apostrophe-s in Orland Park, IL: This poured a cloudy light amber body with a tall foamy head and much lace. It had an aroma of fresh bananas, orange zest, and bubblegum. A touch of caramel and light clove spicing are added to the flavor. Refreshing brew. mdm46410 (587), Griffith, Indiana, USA Sep 24, 2008 Poured from a 500ml swing-top bottle (bottled March ’08) and served in a weizen glass. This hefe poured a dark, muddy amber with a thick head of creamy tan foam. Not quite dunkleweizen dark, but much darker than your average hefeweizen. The head lasted throughout the glass, leaving behind a fair amount of lacing. The aroma consisted of ripened bananas, light toffee, nuts, and a touch of spicy yeast. The flavor included wheat bread, light banana, a hint of caramel, and some faint clove. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied and creamy, smooth. Moderate carbonation. A really inviting aroma led to a flavor profile that was just a bit dull. Not bad. Metalhead (537), Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA Sep 23, 2008 Beautiful hazy amber color with a modest head. Aroma is faint banana bread with hints of wheat.
Flavor is pretty spot on to nose. Agreed that it falls a little short in the flavor dept. mouth feel could be thicker.
