The aroma presents some wheat malt, yeast, and a light spiciness. The flavor is dry with some undertones of smoke (beechwood), banana, and clove with a good level of yeast training behind and a splash of lemon. The body is light and moderately carbonated, but refreshing overall. In the hierarchy of hefes, I would put this somewhere between a regular hefe and a dunkelweizen as there is a bit more malt, yet it is dry in the mid-palate. Overall this is an intriguing wheat beer that is very flavorable and definitely worth drinking time and time again - especially during the Summer months...

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 16, 2008 Aromatically big hefe, maybe a bit sweet. Bottle pours a thickly cloudy dark orange, nice off-white head. Nose is lots of bubble gum, ripe banana and clove. Pretty spicy. Flavor is quite sweet but short of cloying, some spicy-floral notes, very light bitterness, grainy toward the end. A little thin in the mouth. Refreshing but with plenty of flavor. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 24, 2008 Poured from a 500ml swing-top bottle (bottled March ’08) and served in a weizen glass. This hefe poured a dark, muddy amber with a thick head of creamy tan foam. Not quite dunkleweizen dark, but much darker than your average hefeweizen. The head lasted throughout the glass, leaving behind a fair amount of lacing. The aroma consisted of ripened bananas, light toffee, nuts, and a touch of spicy yeast. The flavor included wheat bread, light banana, a hint of caramel, and some faint clove. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied and creamy, smooth. Moderate carbonation. A really inviting aroma led to a flavor profile that was just a bit dull. Not bad. gam (1103), brisbane, Australia

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 8, 2009 Pours caramel brown with a 3 finger foamy off white head that has good retention. Aroma is very sweet, lemon, a little wheat, yeast, and some toasted barley. Flavor is fruity, toasty and sweet up front, with a little straw coming in with sweet grain soon after. FInish is very clean and watery with a hint of sweet grain and toast linger. A really interesting take on the style, but could use more complexity body and yeasty flavors. Still not bad though. level4 (24), New Jersey, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 11, 2008 Bottle. A reasonably standard looking hefeweizen, murky orange with a tight white head and good lacing . It has a sweet aroma with obvious alcohol, some banana, yeast and cereal in the background. Softly flavoured, quite sweet with lots of banana, a touch of spice and maybe even some pear drop/acetone character. I am not a fan of German wheat beers but I find this quite drinkable, even though there is nothing particularly novel about it. leaparsons (4744), Leicester, Leicestershire, England
