Draft@ The 2009 Great Alaska Beer and Barleywine fest. Black with a slight head. Sweet black licorice and chocolate aromas. Medium body and smooth. Good flavors of rich roasty malts with sweet cocoa and black licorice.

Hearty and strong, but smoothe and drinkable. After a few, you’ll be calling it Back Flang. Huge mouthfeel, tasty woody notes. Everything from this brewery is awesome - it may be reason enough alone to make a trip to Haines.

Filled a growler on my way back to the lower 48 (as a carry-on). Wonderful mouthfeel and nose. Excellent dark chocolate flavor was not overpowering. My favorite bewery in Alaska.

From growler filled right at the brewery 12/2005. Nice woody/mapley flavors. A tasty amount of residual sugars left from the London Ale yeast, but not too much. Low hop flavor/aroma. A bit of fruity esters, no noticeable diacetyl. It tasted more like a homebrew; Less refined than most imperial stouts. If I had a way to transport it back to the lower 48, I would like to save this one for a year before drinking it again. That said, it was extremely drinkable while on the young side. Changed my life. Thanks Paul.

Growler at brewpub, November 2003 batch. Good nose, Big coffee/chocolate/abv. Reddish black color. Ring of beige on glass. Roasted malt flavors, same as nose. Creamy, medium bodied. Dry bitter finish. Good Impy, Body seemed to improve as it warmed IMO
