Poured a brown-black with some suspended chunks. Opaque. The aroma had prune and plum along with some other difficult to place smells (likely due to how late in the tasting this was for me) though I’d guess toffee or molasses and maybe vanilla. As for the taste, the body was thick and syrupy, very heavy with nearly zero carbonation. I noted raisons, brandy alcohol, hints of light coffee/chocolate (toffee?) and other deep flavors that escaped me. While not my favorite, I was very excited to have tried such an elusive brew. However, my wife loved this stuff! She said she would get it all the time were it available. So bump my score up by about .4-.6, to get her rating probably a 4.1 for her... Lovely bouquet (I’m not the type of person who uses phrases like "Lovely bouquet") of bourbon, raisin, prune toffee and vanilla. I see my note descrbes the flavor as "very okay", but I’m pretty sure I meant to say "very oaky". In addition to the prominent oak, there substantial notes of vanilla, prune. Not bad at all. wunderbier (1267), Tampere, Finland
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 19, 2005 Deep, murky brown-red-black hue with a creamy, off-white head. Oak a syrup in the aroma, mostly. Wood seems to cover up much of what’s great about the original Adam. Heavily sweet, lightly acidic flavor becomes a moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter finish. Medium-full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. The bottom line is: tasty, but loses a lot of character from the original. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 3, 2005 Holy Moly, Batman!! This was intense. Shared at the Three Floyds gathering. Poured like 10W40 with almost no head. The aroma was coffee, sweet malt caramel, bourbon, woody. Thick and syrupy smooth. Taste was sweet and potent and bourbon and malt and, of course, delicious. Didn’t like Adam but this version is another story. Great stuff. SubstanceT (1090), Saint Louis, Missouri, USA

I really enjoyed this. Dark in color with a thin to almost non-existant head. The nose is very syrupy with malts and sweetness roasted throughout. THe taste was very sweet with lots of bourbon. For as sweet or just tangy this beer was still very drinkable. You have gotta try this if you get a chance! Alcoholist (570), Peoria, Illinois, USA

Motor oil appearance, sweet coffee and caramel with strong bourbon influence. Super smooth with a dry alcohol finish. hezron (602), Viroqua, Wisconsin, USA

Dark, dark brown with a light brown head. A strong vinous woody oak aroma. Flavors of dark fruit (raisins) herbs, and smoked wood. Sweet and vinous. Fuly body with a nice creamy texture. Very interesting brew. The flavor stuck with me for a while. Hairofthedog (419), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 24, 2005 The aroma had dark fermented fruit, caramel/brown sugar, and a vinious (tannin) note. The flavor had dark fermented fruit, a brown sugar sweetness, and a slight dill and herb note. THe beer poured a deep rich brown color w/ orange highlights; no head and lacing. THe mouthfeel was medium to full bodied, and creamy. Thanks sickboy!
