Poured a cloudy orange color body with a huge, sticky, off-white foam. The aroma was quite floral with some resiny pine notes. Flavors are grapefruits, pine needles, coriander, clove, and a semi-sweet malt backbone. A little medicinal at first but that wore off after a few minutes.

bottle (spring 2007) - dark orange and very hazy upon pouring; lots of suspended carbonation; piny and citrus aromas, lots of malts and very little hops in the flavors; hops faded as missed the boat on this one early this year, but will be ready to pick up in a few months...........................5/23/08 update: well, fresh this is just one kick ass beer as it was on draft at brouwer’s and a good way to close out the sour fest by blasting back with hops and malts; so much sweeter when fresh and maltiness to die for; damn!!

Thanks for Axilla for sharing. Poured hazy golden color with a massive foamy head. Aroma is of floral and piney hops. Taste is outstanding. Awesome hops with hints of orange peel and grapefruit. Great body; Great finish. I really enjoyed this.

Pours a cloudy golden orange with a large foamy white head that sticks and laces nicely. Huge hops, grapefruit, rind, sweet malt, some floral. Absolutely delicious. Carbonation awesomely lively and the finish is hoppy but not dry or bitter. Drinkability is of the charts for a DIPA. Sessionable beer for sure. Not a monster like many DIPAs but very well done HOD. A must try.

Bottle. Aromas of light caramel, nuttiness like lychee, and roasted for the malt, heavy smells of flowers, pine and grapefruit for the hops, light leather for the yeast, and wood, pepper and fruit punch in the background. Head is small, bubbly, white, with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky amber. Flavor starts lightly acidic, and the long finish is lightly acidic and heavily bitter. Palate is medium bodied, between watery and oily, and the carbonation is soft, almost flat. It finishes moderately astringent. This one is all about hops. Flavor is a little out of balance, but I love the aroma of this beer. Complex, fruity and unique.

Hair of the Dog is one of my favorite brewers. But the beer descriptions always confuse me. Double IPA? Who cares. This is a nice fruity ale with the taste of Belgian yeast. Head filled the glass quickly. As with other HODs, I lingered a bit before tasting. Then enjoyed.

A Mes rate: Bomber at Steve’s Xmas booze up.
Big thanks to Phil_L for bringing this pricey little number along. Beautiful clean golden amber colour with lots of sparkle flying to the top of the glass adding to the huge frothy white head. Quite mealy aroma with plenty of resinous hoppage. Huge hoppy flavour. Pine, spruce, lychee, lovely bitterness and lots of tropical fruit. Light smoky notes in the nice yeasty finish. Good stuff.
