Savvy1982 (303), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Aug 29, 2009 Bottle, thanks bitbucket! Poured medium amber, classic IIPA color, nose was fresh and well-balanced, with a spicy hop note I associate with other IPAs like Racer 5 or Deschutes Hop Henge. Palate was bracingly bitter, with a charming, tingly acidity and spiciness that coated my entire mouth. I may have opened this a tad late as it was just starting to head south into Big Malt Country, but I got to t just in time. Very nice beer. fidel (882), Livermore, California, USA Aug 18, 2009 Poured hazy orange amber, pineapple, caramel, piney and grassy hops, little honey. HOPSHUNTER (376), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 15, 2009 Bottle, thanks Seabass! Poured a slightly hazy light golden color with a soapy white head. Moderately hoppy nose with notes of malt, caramel, and peach. Crisp mouthfeel with lively carbonation. Flavor is sweet and slightly acidic, flavors of pine, citrus, grass, and yeast, no noticeable malt presence. Moderately bitter finish. CheersMate1 (763), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 11, 2009 Ah...yet another Hair of the Dog today. I must have set a record. I tried this on tap at the brewery, but I also had the impetus to purchase two of these bottles, one of which I am trying the other of which I might save. 22 oz. bottles. Haze orange/brown hue/caramel color; not very much of a head, but still a very good looking beer. Such a wonderful citurs/pine hop aroma that is insane. I heard this was more hoppy than malty, but that is B.S. There are plenty of hops in this; especially in the aroma. This has a great smell. Nice hop flavor. Very nice citrus hop aroma. The bittering hop lingers. This beer is a big bitter beer that starts to turn into a sweet citrus flavor. Such a fresh hop profile that one can’t ignore the use of these amazing hops. Fairly smooth beer, but not overly so. Overall, damn good beer! GarrettB (494), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 9, 2009
I always hope that the next IPA I force me to try will finally convert me the noble ways of the hop head. The Blue Dot, at one time, was just such a beer, but it too failed to make me an apostate of IBU abstinence. The pour produces a very cloudy orange and brown brew - an unpleasant color in any other context. Very quickly a heavy aroma of hops and grapefruit appears, giving itself some gracefulness with some juicy pear and peach notes, The taste, however, is much more dull and flat. I sense very little carbonation or texture, and am instead laid bare to a dull, dim bitterness and a decent, but plain grainy and rye aftertaste. While the aroma was more attractive than most, the flavor, to me, was an absolute let down. markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Aug 6, 2009 08 Bottle, thanks sebletitje for the share. Pours hazy straw gold with a foamy white head. Nose is apricot, peach, light malt, bitterness, and some yeast. Flavor is light malt, white grapefruit, honey, sugar, and a bitter finish that leaves the mouth bitten with dry tartness. Medium-bodied and a nice IPA. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 6, 2009 08’ bottle.
pours copper hazy, white head.
aroma is hoppy with some pine and grapefruit notes, caramel malts and rye.
flavors, my style of DIPA, smooth with just hints of bittersweet; grapefruits, some caramel malts and rye to add to a creamy, full bodied mouthfeel. Light acidic finish. TimE (1300), Tokyo, Japan Aug 5, 2009 Murky dark amber color with a cotton candy nose. Full bodied. Caramel, cotton candy, grapefruit and candy apples all grace the mouth. Moderately sweet with a nice bitter finish.
