Pours a hazy golden with a white head. Bitter Smells slightly of grape fruit. Fruity hopsprofile. Gunsmoke burps(?). Medium to low carbonation. Full bodied. Long bitter finish. A bit too bitter. BeerBiker (1384), Odense, Denmark Mar 21, 2007 [Bottle from Beermouth tasted with the hop-bros at Jess’ cosy inn.]
Unfiltered look with medium white head and freshhoppy aroma in combination with some spices. Flavor is a mix of yeast, malt, caramel and mediumhops ending up in a mediumbitter aftertaste. Had expected more!! puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Mar 20, 2007 Bomber from a trade. Aroma of hops, hazelnut, vanilla, oak twigs, maple syrup, incense. Really quite nice once you give it a vigorous swirl and drown out the hops. Pours with a huge head and a ton of yeast sediment, making the cloudiest IIPA I’ve ever seen, not to mention one of the palest. Very mellow in the mouth for a IIPA. Whereas you can definitely notice the hops in full force, the oakiness and vanilla notes are wonderful, leaving a very nutty, rich butter chocolate taste in the mouth. A gentle giant, for sure, and a lovely brew. oakbluff (298), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Mar 17, 2007 Tasted with Fisherman34 during MB DIPA Throwdown 07. A rare treat that Piscator34 was way too generous to share for the throwdown. High expectations going into this one. Poured a beautiful classic lPA hue with a fluffy cloud white head. Smell- hmm- somethings up here. Not quite right. Taste- confirms the suspected. Some sort of rogue yeast had snuck into this thing. Sour wild yeast tasting on initial sip that gives way to a decent malty DIPA. What a shame- this beer had serious potential. Definitely infected by something. Not being a beer snob by any means I still have it a chance for what it was and actually didn’t mind it. Just way too weird due the infection. Jolly Pumpkin like on the start and normal DIPA on the finish. Can’t say that every day. No matter- huge thanks to Kris for cracking this one. piscator34 (1121), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Mar 17, 2007 Bottled sample via Oakes. Sampled on on IIPA Saturday with Oakbluff. Clear orange in colour with lots of carbonation. Aromatics are a mixture of citric and grassy hops, black pepper, and wild yeast. Flavor wise, it’s an odd mix of sharp citrus, flat caramel, dried fruit, and earthy wild yeast elements. I’m not sure if the infection element of this beer is intentional or not. It’s definitely different, but I still couldn’t finish my half pint of it. sloth (1658), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA Mar 17, 2007 Bomber: Large offwhite head, retention is good with lacing that starts out thick and coating but ends up spotty and scattered. Pale gold appearence is moderately hazy. Spicey hop nose with some funky notes, lightly earthy and fruity. Body is medium, palate is neat with a soft carbonation that gets a bit aggressive followed by a tart creaminess. Flavors of citrus and pineapple, rye spiceyness, earthy notes, grapefruit and lightly doughy. Finish is dry, fruity, good hop bite. Props to EDA for this very cool brew. Thanks Mike! beermouth (434), Langeskov, Denmark Mar 17, 2007 Slight hazy yellow with nice frothe head. Lot’s of fresh hoppy taste. Intesn fruity style with some apple, orange and peach. Nice bitter finish.
