Hair of the Dog Blue Dot Imperial IPA

Bottled. Cloudy dark orange colour. Rich sticky white foam. Piney hop aroma with notes of grapefruit, passionfruit and flowers. Loads of citric fruit in the flavour; grapefruit and lemon-rind with touches of lychee, grass and pine-needles. The body is fairly light compared to other 2IPA’s I’ve sampled. Long hoppy and bitter finish of grapefruit, grass and lemon-rind. Tasty and quite refreshing IPA.

On tap at Toronado. Hazy yellow orange color, surprisingly yeasty aroma with almost perfunctory citrus hops. Taste is downright bland compared to other Hair of the Dogs I’ve had but still very nice.

Pours a very light amber color that is very murky. Head forms nicely and lasted quite a while. Smells almost like a belgian? Fruits are there for sure. Taste is a bit weak for a DIPA, but not bad at all. Very drinkable, thank DB.

Hazy orange with white head, much lacing. Hop aroma with malt notes. Hoppy flavour with a quenching quality, notes of citrus, naartjies?, and malt. Lingering hop finish. Well balanced and seems lower in alcohol than it is.

Hazy orange with a huge and solid white head. Aroma of leather, hay, citrus, grapefruit. Sweet at first until a big grapefruit bitterness sets in. Though it has a fair amount of bitterness it wasn’t the hop explosion I had hoped for.

Not bad, a very hazy IPA with a good amount of bitter flavor at the finish. A nice beer to start the afternoon with.

Bottle. A hazy yellow beer with a big off-white head. The aroma is of caramel malt and dry grass, pine and grape. The taste is also Caramel malt, grass, pine and citrus in a medium body with a very long bitter dry finish.

Bottle sent to me from kenb: Thanks. So, I open the bottle and it sounds like there is a ton of carbonation in this one. The pour is a hazy yellow with a huge amount of head. The smell is pretty strong. I note a strong smell of pine covering up a very strong scent of citrus. The taste is pretty interesting. I taste citrus and pine in here as well. It seems like there is some banana in there as well, almost like it got a little confused about being an IPA or a belgian, but then it figured it out and decided to be pretty dry and hoppy. Leaves an odd taste in my mouth. Not my favorite IPA ever.
