2nd Brewery 07-08 Beer Road Trip with Bikesandbeer, 12/31/07 @ The Brewery with Alan Sprints. Alan was nice enough to give Kevin, Kevin’s Girlfriend Jessi a private tour and tasting on New Year’s Eve 07. Bomber brewed in Fall 07. Pours gold yellow with a bright white head. Nose has a great citrus character. Taste is really sweet, awesome and a big DIPA with a low abv and really not much for bitterness.

Tap @ Higgins, Portland. Clear golden color, beautiful head. Aroma of grapefruit and pine. Very bitter and quite sharp taste. Good stuff.

An orangey/red color with a a white head, and cloudy as hell. Aroma is floral, fruity, malty. Flavor is just really delicious. A sharp hop bite hits you but gives way to a juicy and malty beer. Hops are present at the end again. This is one helluva good beer.

On tap at Horse Brass. I found out later at a brewery tour that this beer now accounts for almost half of HotD’s production. Thick cloudy looking dark yellow like yeast mud. Thin head and lacing. Gentle hop aroma hypnotizes the brain. Alcohol is well hidden. Thick and flavourful in the mouth. You can almost chew the hops. Delicious. Strong but restrained.

Sampled at RBSG 2006- Grand Tasting. Pours a hazy butterscotch candy color. Fine aroma of pineapple and citrus. Has a distinct juniper taste with a luau finish. This must be a fairly low pH beer. Lots of tartness to the mouth. This beer could be used for aroma therapy. UPDATE 3/2008: In the bomber bottle from John’s Market in Portland. Intense citrus and pine tar aroma. Delicious fruity and citrus flavors. A bargain beer for $5.

Huge shiny offwhite head. Hazy opaque yellow body. Sugary soft barnyard aroma with hoppy notes. Sweetish intense bitter barnyard taste with fry soft metallic pine needle aftertaste. Not bad, but flawed. (0.65l bottle at Knut Albert’s.)

Bottled. Cloudy dark orange colour. Rich sticky white foam. Piney hop aroma with notes of grapefruit, passionfruit and flowers. Loads of citric fruit in the flavour; grapefruit and lemon-rind with touches of lychee, grass and pine-needles. The body is fairly light compared to other 2IPA’s I’ve sampled. Long hoppy and bitter finish of grapefruit, grass and lemon-rind. Tasty and quite refreshing IPA.

Very nice. Not the hop bomb I expected, but there hops are there in abundance. The aroma has citrus and grapefruit. Flavor is almost all hops, but balanced by sweet malt that I wasn’t expecting. The balance is quite good. Light hop burn.
