Big thanks to Phil_L for bringing this pricey little number along. Beautiful clean golden amber colour with lots of sparkle flying to the top of the glass adding to the huge frothy white head. Quite mealy aroma with plenty of resinous hoppage. Huge hoppy flavour. Pine, spruce, lychee, lovely bitterness and lots of tropical fruit. Light smoky notes in the nice yeasty finish. Good stuff. thewolf (5808), Kolding, Denmark
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 24, 2007 Bottle. Bought @ Wohlenbergs, Sønderborg. Pours a muddy pale yellow. There is a giant, foamy, slightly off white head on top of the liquid. Aroma is zeisty fruity - some lemons, grapefruit and oranges - fresh ones, that is. Medium to high carbonation, making the beer lively and fresh. Flavour is mild at first, a little touch of caramel, but a sh**load of different hops. There are citric ones, peppery ones, pine-like ones, woody ones and fruity ones. Complex and well-rounded. It doesn’t even dry out my mouth that terribly much. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 6, 2006 (Bottle) Pours a cloudy orange body with a huge long-lasting off-white head (large bubbles on the outer edges of the head with a dense interior head; quite unique). Aroma of citrus, breadiness, and light pine. Flavor of piney hops and spicy orange peel with a bitter finish. hopdog (5609), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 1, 2008 22oz bottle. 2007 Spring edition. Poured a medium and cloudy golden color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of pineapples, tropical fruits, citrus rinds, and fresh green hops. Very nice hop aroma. Tastes of tropical fruits, fruity, caramel, and melons. Tastes a tad of a let down compared to the great aroma. Rastacouere (5561), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 1, 2006 Another idiosyncratic HOTD offering. Cloudy rather pale gold offering covered by a lasting white foam. Heterogeneous blend of belgianesque fruity esters and hop derivated fruitiness makes for a complex aromatic garden. Strong backing malts appear rather crisp, biscuity like pale tea cookies and naturally pairing with the doughy yeast. Grassy developments do offer a contrast to the otherwise exotic fruitiness. Comfortable, smooth, expansive carbonation is engaging while the body stays medium-full despite an advanced attenuation level. Certainly not the most focused example, but fully original and pleasantly tweaked. It’s stunning how this is full of surprises, yet doesn’t surprise us just by knowing who’s behind the bar. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 1, 2007 Bottle thanks to beeranarchist, at home with cgarvieuk. Aroma is sweet and raw malts, peachy bittery hops, but too sweet. Taste is similar very bitter, but lacking citrus hop and good character, very disapointed. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 14, 2006 Bottle thanks to wohlfs, tasted on 5/1/06: Pours a transparent copper orange with a nicely-lacing thin wispy white head. Fresh piney hoppy, lightly grapefruity aroma has good pale malty character with a touch of toasty caramel. Good fresh piney and grapefruity flavor hops mesh well with a touch of sweet caramel malt. Pretty well-balanced, but the body could be a little thicker, though I like the hop character throughout. hopscotch (5517), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 10, 2006 Bottle... Cloudy straw-colored ale with a huge, fizzy, white head. Terrific, wispy retention. Breadsy, fruity, spicy nose. The aroma is reminiscent of a saison or Belgian blond, not an IIPA. No hint of hops, just light banana, coriander and dough. The hops really HIT AND STICK with that first sip, though. Bitter as Hell. Grapefruit rind, bitter tannins and a pinch of salt. Lengthy, tongue-numbingly bitter, dry finish. Cheers to jimbowood for shipping the bottle!
