I was really disappointed. Citrus & pine nose, and much more golden color than expected. Very full, foamy head that stuck around the whole time I was drinking it. Pineapple and hops made up the flavor, with less hops than expected. Quite a bitter finish too. Probably won’t have again. I’ll stick with their Adam, Fred, and Doggy Claw!

bottle (spring 2007) - dark orange and very hazy upon pouring; lots of suspended carbonation; piny and citrus aromas, lots of malts and very little hops in the flavors; hops faded as missed the boat on this one early this year, but will be ready to pick up in a few months...........................5/23/08 update: well, fresh this is just one kick ass beer as it was on draft at brouwer’s and a good way to close out the sour fest by blasting back with hops and malts; so much sweeter when fresh and maltiness to die for; damn!!

22oz bottle thanks to both kegbear and hophead22.... pours a hazy orange-brown with a soapy/frothy whitebhead..... aroma of sweet candied fruit and biscuity malt ..... flavor is a nice mixture of sweet and slightly bitter. biscuity caramel malt, pine resin bitterness and lingering sugars. finishes somewhat bitter on the palate. not sure how fresh of a bottle this is but still pretty good.

I love imperial IPAs and Hair of the Dog (both the brewery and the act of drinking to cure a hangover), but this fell just a little short in a couple ways. It pours a cloudy golden color with an off-white head, very opaque. Aroma is basically all West coast hops, but not quite as strong as some of the SoCal offerings (Stone, Green Flash, etc). The hop combo is good but not great and it lacks a little bit of the balancing malty sweetness that great beers in this style usually have. Nice smooth palate though. Substantial sediment remains after.

Crushed with CaryTheDude and JakeBra. Aroma is like the best citrus ever. Flavor has a lot of citrus combined perfectly with a lot of carbonation. The mouthfeel might have been a tad thin, but awesome nonetheless because of the cool carbonation.

sampled back to back with Freak Out. Both highly commended, recommended and left me needing to be mended (after the rest of the beers that night). So, who was Dot? IS she old and with blue hair? Will Alan ever make an Alan? Will I ver make a comment worthy of a true rating? This was bitter. I made "bitter face" my friends laughed so hard they spit beer at me then kicked me in the face and took my money. Are you happy now? thanks Charles, thanks a whole fukkin lot

Carl Sagan reference? Pours thick with sediment and yeast like the other HOTD beers I’ve had. Earthy, orange juice aroma. Thick on the tongue with a dense hop profile. Orange stands out as the citrus component, with spicy and vegetal notes. Rather raw for the style and lacking in brightness, but the complex and natural character makes it worth the visit.

Tasted @ Hair of the Dog Brewing Company in Portland.
Orange colored brew. Grassy, floral, fruity aroma. Flavor is full with a very nice and full hopbitterness. Malty, sweet, fruity and bitter.
