Both highly commended, recommended and left me needing to be mended (after the rest of the beers that night). So, who was Dot? IS she old and with blue hair? Will Alan ever make an Alan? Will I ver make a comment worthy of a true rating? This was bitter. I made "bitter face" my friends laughed so hard they spit beer at me then kicked me in the face and took my money. Are you happy now?
thanks Charles, thanks a whole fukkin lot kwoeltje (1333), Manchester, Missouri, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 20, 2007 Carl Sagan reference? Pours thick with sediment and yeast like the other HOTD beers I’ve had. Earthy, orange juice aroma. Thick on the tongue with a dense hop profile. Orange stands out as the citrus component, with spicy and vegetal notes. Rather raw for the style and lacking in brightness, but the complex and natural character makes it worth the visit. boFNjackson (1322), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | May 20, 2007 Bottle... Poured a hazy, burnt orange color with a tiny white, fizzy head. So orange and unfiltered that if the tone was a little lighter it could be mistaken for a wheat beer. A lot of people complain about unfiltered IPAs but I love the look. Aroma is mellow for the power this beer has, just faint malt and hop. Slight sizzle on the palate, flavors of strong, piney hops, caramel, lemons and berries, and earthy floral undertones. This was an awesome brew. Just what I needed after a seven day work week. BelgianBeerGal (1322), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 7, 2009 Bottle fresh from Alan’s shelf. Murky orange-brown pour with a foamy, khaki head. Big bubbles and lacing that leaves oil sheen on the glass walls. HUGE aroma of fresh pink grapefruit hops, a little pine and some pineapple. Perfectly balanced flavour with the sweet northwest hops in the front and the malt backbone balancing it out in the finish. The bitterness hangs around in the end with some mandarin orange notes. This is not a palate crusher on bitterness. Definitely more hop nuances than just upfront bitterness. Wow, that’s nice. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA

Very strikingly heavy and full-bodied/flavored/aromaed, etc...Hoppy, yes, sweet too, citrus notes and, also chewy, caramel butteriness (is that a word?). Anyway, I enjoyed this beer very much, and hope to have it again in the future. The only thing is that for a double ipa, the alcohol content is pretty low considering some of them are upward of 11%. garthicus (1313), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Some candy floss too, Wow, another cracking beer from HOTD
