thanks boamr for bringing this over, smell was amazing...could actually smell this from 8 inches away...amazingly well balanced..the pine from the rye comes out huge in the tail and really balances off the hops...i love the way the flavors blend so smoothly...nothing really wrong with this beer that i could note.

Bottle shared by mmtmatrix, thanks man. Poured a clear golden color with a light white head that faded to a ring. Aroma of leafy, earthy hops with some pine resin and light citrus. Strong, bitter hops right off the bat with some pine resin and a leafy earthiness with a moderately bitter, lingering finish. Nice bitter, biting mouthfeel, but still able to have that oily hoppiness. Great stuff.

[Bottle, thanks Skyview] Poured a cloudy golden color with a huge white head. Very strong citrusy aroma that was great. Taste was of grapefruit and there was a nice balance between malt and hops in this beer.

Columbus 2.0 tasting shared by nolankowal. Poured a very lt brown witha a light yellowishness. Aroma of citrus and a little malt. Maybe a little lemony witte flavor? Definitely quenched my hop thirst in the middle of sours, stouts, and belgians.

Ah...yet another Hair of the Dog today. I must have set a record. I tried this on tap at the brewery, but I also had the impetus to purchase two of these bottles, one of which I am trying the other of which I might save. 22 oz. bottles. Haze orange/brown hue/caramel color; not very much of a head, but still a very good looking beer. Such a wonderful citurs/pine hop aroma that is insane. I heard this was more hoppy than malty, but that is B.S. There are plenty of hops in this; especially in the aroma. This has a great smell. Nice hop flavor. Very nice citrus hop aroma. The bittering hop lingers. This beer is a big bitter beer that starts to turn into a sweet citrus flavor. Such a fresh hop profile that one can’t ignore the use of these amazing hops. Fairly smooth beer, but not overly so. Overall, damn good beer!

Fall 2008. Bottle from Hi-Time Wine Cellars, who seem to be my online retailer of choice. Pours a copper color with a thick fluffy off-white head. Excellent retention, heavy lacing. Aroma is citrus hops, floral, caramel, overall not all that powerful but nice. This is hardly an in your face hoppy Imperial IPA and actually it’s hard for me to envison it as a Double IPA. This drank sort of like a slightly amped up Pale Ale with a lot of malt showing, caramel, grains (the rye?) malts to compliment the citrusy hops. Crisp bitter hoppy finish. I really like this beer. Not one I’d pick if I feel like a hops onslaught but this is very drinkable, balanced and damn good. Would be a perfect session brew.

Pours with pillowy, one finger head leaving cumulus lacing over a opaque, honey-like murky body; abundant yeast, lemon peel, earthy and citrus hop aroma; not alot of body, but plenty of resinous, oily, piney hops; no malt charactor to speak of because it’s completely oblitorated by fruity, Belginesque yeast and hops. Pure and simple hop juice, but not much more. That’s OK with me.

Dark yellow like colour. Lots of grapefruit hops in the aroma. Great malty taste with a blast of yummy hops.
