Citrus sweet aroma of grapefruit, flowery hops, and subtle brown sugar. Light lemony sweetness in the flavor, also a dry hoppy bitterness persists. Dry light body with a clean finish. Aromas of peaches, honey and some pine. The flavour is a little metaillic with hoppy grapefruit notes. This sample tastes a little old.. sfhodense (616), Odense NØ, Denmark

Aroma is fresh hoppy with notes of citrus and grapefruit. Flavour is bitter, with notes of flowers and citrus. There is also some caramel to balance the beer. Nice one. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 23, 2008 Appearance is a cloudy orange hue, minimal white lacing dissipates to a thin ring, fair light lacing.
Smell is mostly lighter hops, mostly citrus and pine, grassy floral tones peak through, sweet fruits, chalk, and slight alcohol.
Taste is mostly bitter and sour grapefruit hops, fleshed out by tones of pine resin, sweet orange, and floral/grass essence, some sweet malts in the middle and a bitter dry finish.
Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, watery creamy texture lacks some of the resin characteristic of this style, mild carbonation.
Drinkability is high, I would be hesitant to consider this a true DIPA, the 7%abv and relatively moderate hop profile is more reminiscent of a IPA or 1.5IPA, this is very easy-to-drink hop treat that is lacking in any exciting flavors but is nonetheless a solid offering from Portland. joebrew (608), Farewell Minny; Hello Puyallup, Washington, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 13, 2007 Thanks to skyview. Pours a cloudy straw colored golden yellow, with a massive head. Holy hops on the nose! Very floral aromatics with a hint of citrus and tangerine. Great balance with an almost juniper like floral aromatics supported by a hint of citrus fruit. The finish almost has a hint of pepper. spikester (602), Salem, Oregon, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 23, 2009 Hazy amber with a two finger foamy white head. Good amount of lacings. Aroma is piney resinous hops. Taste is bitter piney hops with a strong malt presence. Fairly well balanced for a DIPA. Mouthfeel is good with medium carbonation. A nice dry bitter finish. Kudos to HOTD for making a DIPA with a 7%abv. Very drinkable for the style.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 14, 2009 Pours a opaque golden color...very murky like a dark Hefe. Nice head that billows and descends pretty quickly, but with cumulus-like clouds on top. Will caveat at this point that I consumed this after a Dreadnaught, so competition was fierce. Hoppy aroma is very nice and complex...lots of citrus (grapefruit and orange primarily) hops and some resiny/piney hops as well. The taste disappointed somewhat...just didn’t live up to the potential exhibited in the hops. Flavor was still good...mostly citrus hop flavors, but there was a good malt backbone to stand up to the hops, with some caramely/sugary undertones. Very oily mouthfeel, almost too much for a drink that goes down this quickly. Thaichile (599), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA

Nose is hops, floral and piney. Bitterness lasts throughout this brew, with some grapefruit zest, too much so in my opinion. This was pretty much a spineless beer, with the malt backdrop of 2IPA MIA. Thought this was going to be better than it was. Thanks to wohlf for the bottle.
