| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 21, 2006 Bottle. Pours a orange hue fairly cloudy with a white head. The white head leaves nice lacing along the side of the glass. Aroma is what you would expect out of a IIPA, especially for the PNW. Pine and citrus are the predominant notes. Flavor is very much like grapefruit, full of hops. Nice bitter finish to end. Very decent IIPA. Nice to have something new from HotD! chicagodri (1072), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Good bitter flavor, heavy on the hops and very refreshing/easy to drink. This is a very good IPA. emacgee (1892), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 3, 2008 Pours a pale hazy bright golden yellow with a thin fizzy white head. The nose is citrusy and fruity, mandarin oranges, sweet, grapefruit, a nice hidden malt backbone. The flavor has an assertive citrus peel bitterness that doesn’t come through in the aroma, mandarin oranges, fruity, nice malty sweetness. The palate has a dry hoppy bite and finishes citrusy with some sweetness. Indra (2036), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 10, 2007 22oz. bottle from the brewery. Aroma simply bursts with fresh citrus, plenty of juicy grapefruit and tangerine, with further notes of pine, freshly-picked leafy herbs and flowers, along with hints of pale, grainy, honeyish malts. Hazy medium golden color with a lasting, creamy head and fine lace sheeting the glass. Flavor is very softly sweet and floral up front, but sees the hops increase in intensity thereafter, becoming more dominant and reaching a crescendo at the finish where the sweetness is thoroughly overridden by bitter hop resins and citric, resinous, leafy hop flavor. Some faint lemony spice from the rye and fading hints of peach. Overall, mouthfeel is semi-dry, oily and smoothly effervescent, body is medium-full. Lip-smackingly hoppy aftertaste. Refreshing and drinkable. Nicely done. Ernest (4515), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 22, 2006 Bottle.
Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting.
Body is hazy medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, lemon/orange, herbs), lightly yeasty (dough), with a note of medicine.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter.
Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Me like, surprisingly. It’s kind of like Ruth times 4 or whatever...very clean bitterness without the abrasive, tongue-scraping qualities of a typical west-coast IPA. Likewise in the hop aroma, it’s fruity/citrusy without being overly green, pungent, and resinous. Slightly phenolic (kinda cool), slightly yeasty (eh). Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA

Hop aroma is floral, lots of honey and a little pine. Taste is full bitter hops, fruitiness doesn’t come through as much until the finish. Mild sweetness, light spiciness and mineral taste. Finish is long and hoppy. Body on this one is great, moderatly malty and pretty frothy argo0 (6998), Washington DC, USA
