Pours hazy golden-amber color with a creamy white head and lots of little floaties. Aroma is pungent and hoppy, juicy citrus with orange, lemon and grapefruit especially prominent along with spruce and not-quite ripe summer fruits. Flavor is hoppy, hoppy most noticibly grapefruit rind, pine needles, and pepper with toasty and toffee malt well in the background. Full body and smooth, gentle carbonation. Hops galore! At this point, the sheer amount of good, hard to find stuff that was floating around and being poured had become rather stunning. Light lemon gold, a bit hazy. Pine and grapefruit aroma, spicy hops. Flavor was a combination of biscuit malts loads of spicy, bitter hops on the finish. Not bad, but somehow wanted more. Can’t quite put my finger on it. Perhaps more malt? jimbowood (954), Athens, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 4, 2006 Bottle. One of the most interesting IIPA’s I’ve tried. Appearance is like that of an unfiltered hefeweizen- pale cloudy straw colored. Huge, hoppy aroma w/ that metallic/acidic nose that you get from some of the HOTD brews. HUGE head. Flavor is complex. A little watered-down. Don’t know if I like the interpretaton of the style, but it’s definitely interesting and worth a try. madcow75 (425), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 8, 2006 Bottle. Pours pale yellow with almost no head, just a whisp of white. Aroma is of citrus, grapefruit, lemon, some spices. This is bitter, mostly hops, very citrusy, some yeast/cloves. This got better as warmer, very harsh at first, but smoothed out along the way. This is an interesting IIPA, not like any other I have had before. BeerandBlues2 (3216), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 24, 2006 Pours hazy yellow straw with a foamy white head, lasting and lined lacing. Aroma is huge hops (citrus, floral, pine), doughy yeast, straw and hay, meal and cereal malt, grassy finish. Moderately bitter and acidic piney and floral hops, malt and yeasty cardboard flavor, alcohol notes at the end. Medium bodied and fizzy, dry and chalky palate. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA

Pours a clear orange that holds up an average sized sticky white head.
Citrus dominates the aroma with a good malt back up in the distance.
Lots of malt, but the hop bitterness over rides it in this brew. Stays nicely bitter all the way through to a good dry finish. greenhorn1 (460), Mission Viejo, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 29, 2006 I was dissappointed with this Imperial IPA, however, I have higher expectations from this brewery. DYCsoccer17 sums it up very well, this beer is ’ugly as hell’. It is very murky and pours the same color as pee and it had very low carbonation. But, it does have a sweet aroma with scents of citrus. It does not taste like an Imperial, but it does have a nice flavor of grapefruit, orange, and a nice balance of sweetness. There are better Imperial IPA’s but I will purchase again. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 23, 2006 22 oz. Bomber served in a pint glass. The aroma is everything you could want from an IIPA. Huge piney, citrusy, grapefruit smells hit you immediately, and stay throughout the entire time you drink this beer. The only downfall I could find with this beer is that it seemed a little overly bitter in the back end of the taste, almost a small hint of an aspirin like favor at the very end. I think they prolly could have used a little more malt, bump up the ABV. a little more and then they would have a top notch beer. In the end it is still very good, and another great beer from HOTD.
