Nose is slightly yeasty/spicy (probably the rye), grapefruit and pine and light doughy sweet notes. Taste has distinct rye beer qualities of a slippery body that feels a touch thin, nice spiciness that almost overshadows the hops. Clean and crisp bitterness. As far as IIPAs go, this isn’t top tier, but throw in the rye aspect and you get a very interesting beer. Pretty cool beer and definitely glad I got to try it. Nice. Complex nose of apricot, citrus and bit pine backed up by pear and pineapple. Very nice. Straightforward malt profile with just enough sweetness to complement the heavy bitterness. Quite fizzy but nice enough texture. Nice IPA, but the hoppiness seems a little rough. Hawksfan17 (718), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 19, 2006 Thanks to my dad for this one. Cloudy orange body, moderate sized head, decent lacing. Aroma is the usual PNW goods... grapefruit, pine, citrus. Flavor was dominatd by citrus, which might be a first. Medium bodied, could use a bigger malt backbone but was still balanced. I don’t know where 100 IBUs came from. Other than the somewhat watery feel, balance was excellent. This hit the spot after a long day. Glouglouburp (2887), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Fruitiness level is above average for that type of beer. The pineapple and tangerine flavours mix well with the floral hops. Not very sweet. Very hoppy with medium bitterness. Alcohol presence felt a bit more than 7%. Plenty of creamy non-caramelized malt. A very nice beer. A testament to the incredible West-Coast beer scene is the fact that this Blue Dot is just another green dot on the West-Cost Hoppy-Beer radar.
