Pine sap laden aroma, with a strong hint of alcohol and strawberry. Sticky, well carbonated palate with bitter caramel and fresh pine needles. I was actually expecting this one to be a bit more subdued, but there was a strong bitterness…as it breathes the palate becomes more creamy and delivers the alcohol in a much smoother fashion. This one started out harsh, but lulls the patient into a long, slow trance and finishes with a creamy hop dream. Vac (2394), San Diego, California, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 12, 2004 Updated: Jan 11, 20052001, aged 4 years, thanks a ton to batkins for this treasure. Pours a lightly cloudy dark orange/copper, small white head, medium lacing. Very sweet malt aroma, even after aging the hops are still present and are really settling nicely. Taste has a great caramel warmth to it, hints of wood, and a dark fruity sweetness to it. Aging very well and probably will continue to improve.
2002 Pours a deep red color with a nice off-white head. Sweet and malty aroma that carries lots of christmas spice with it. Great warm flavor, thick and creamy, kinda has a hint of egg nog too, with a good roastyness and spice to it. This brew should be substituted for hot ciders or some other sort of holdiay traditional drink. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 7, 2004 2002 version. Never ending thick ivory head with an aroma that reminds me of Stone 5th. Taste still has a sharp hop bite along with bitter citrus flavors like grapefruit and lemon. How these hops have held out this long, I’ll never know. Alcoholist (570), Peoria, Illinois, USA
