They warned me on the viability, and so we drank it, all 4 of us, over an hour and a half. Cloudy hazy orange colour with proteins particularly at end. Creamy with lasting head. Mandarin orange. A large slightly off white head. Sweet earthy and musky aroma of tangerines and flowers with some caramel notes. The flavor is a mellow and obviously aged with toffee and some flowers. There are also strong notes of oranges. There is little spice to detect. Very nice and smooth. beerslayer (753), New Jersey, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 20, 2005 Sweet and hoppy aroma coming off a cloudy tan body with mountains of creamy head. The head sat on top for the length of the beer. Taste had a very dry feel to it, almost felt warm in my mouth, even thought the bottle was only out of the fridge for 10 minutes before I drank it. A very hop loaded taste that didn’t carry the bitterness that beers with so much hops seem to carry. Didn’t find too much alcohol, but I’m sure that is where the warmth comes from. I have an "04 bottle that I plan to sit on for a while, but am definitely looking forward to having this again. wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 18, 2005 Updated: Feb 26, 2005 Pours a cloudy orange color which is quite unusall for a Barley Wine. The aroma has a lot of orange in it as well as malts, raisins, hops and a lot of alcohol presense. The taste is a bit like Gingerale, I agree. It is like Gingerale with hard liquor kick. Plus there is the orange and raisin taste as well. The mouthfeel has a nice hoppy feel to it. The hops are a bit too present in the aftertaste taking away from the balance a little bit. Basically it is too much like a Double IPA in terms of the taste and the mouthfeel. Good stuff though. MullMan (1086), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA
