Commercial Description:
Doggie Claws has a deep copper color and an intense hop character. I use Simcoe and Amarillo hops along with Organic Pilsner malt, British crystal and dark wild flower honey collected on Mt. Hood. The beer is ready to drink now but will improve with age. Happy Holidays from the curs at Hair of the Dog. - Alan Sprints, Brewmaster

2008 12oz from Bottleworks. Brilliant ruby, hazy amber pour with absolutely minimal head. Nose of pine, funky french cheese, maple. Luscious, velvety mouthfeel with a touch of heat and stickiness. Flavor is robust brown suggary malt and undertones of leather, jerky, smoke and dark wood. Notes of Fred, really... this is most definitely a HOTD beer. Very well balanced, unique and intriguing BW; i’m very impressed. Would love to try this aged...

12 ounce room temp 2008 bottle in Duvel glass. Decanted clear amber wih lasting ring and some lace. Caramelized brown sugar port wood and fresh aromatic floral hop aroma. Caramelized brown sugar raisin wood bready flavor, not excessively fruity. Dry bitter finish. Perfectly blended complex flavors. Full body and medium-low carbo. Hard to imagine a better barleywine. A new fave.

Marvelous drink. Huge hop character atop an incredible fruit-laced, honey-sweetened, caramelized barleywine malt backbone. The hops really shine with fantastic spicy character and floral components. Slight herbal bits with notable raisin and plum. Incredible complexity that is well matched to a fantastic hop lineup and a well hidden alcohol content.

2008 bottle thanks to hannont. deep amber pour with no head at all. no carbonation at all with a nose of slight hops but mostly honey and malts. thick on the palate with a hop flavor and a touch of honey in the finish.

2008 bottle. Aroma of cinnamon and caramel. Dark amber. Tastes very much like a good scotch ale, however you describe one of those. Balanced malt and caramel.
