Ungstrup (11378), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 22, 2004 An unclear amber beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel, yeast, and spices. The flavor is dry mlaty with notes of fruits and prunes, while the body is strong. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Sep 25, 2004 Bottled.Reddish amber. Gingery nose. Warming and salty, very malty. Grapefruity hopsfight with licorice and alcohol. Rich and soft but bold. All the flavours doesn’t really mix. Papsoe (10359), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 14, 2006 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Vintage 2003. Pours amber with a slight haze and a huge, creamy, yellowish head leaving a neat lacework. Caramelish nose with a nice edge of aroma hops. Nice, full body with lots of fruit - almost perfumy - exotic fruits actually. Distinct sweetness balanced by some bitterness in the finish. Tasted at the Oklahoma Beer tasting March 06 hosted by mjames and lilannie. 240306
Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 30, 2006 Opaque golden-amber colour. The aroma is richly fruity (peach, plum, berry) with slightly oxidized pale malts and the remnants of orangey, lemony hops. Despite this 2005 already showing a bit of age under its belt in the aroma, it certainly doesn’t on the palate. A rich bitterness rolls across the tongue. Sweet fruity notes of pear and pear rescue you, pale malts glide in the soft, smooth HOTD tradition. The finish, however, crushes the palate with the bitterness of a young, overhopped BW and any tastebuds that might be left are slaughtered by strong alcohol notes. The good start can’t make up for the unbalanced finish. This could have been a contender. yespr (6889), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jun 30, 2007 RBSG07. From 33 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a white head. Aroma of sweet malty and raisins. Flavour is sweet malty with a strong hops notes. Very enjoyable. Decent bitter finish.
