| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 23, 2009 Batch 73. Pours an orange golden with a massive white head that lasts and lasts. Aroma is caramel, malt, honey, hops, citrus. Flavor is much the same caramel maltiness, honey, quite hoppy, citrus, some alcohol present in the long sticky bitter finish. Looking forward to the 08 FftW. gsteph (266), knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 21, 2009 Batch 73. Damn! What a head on this beast. Three fingered riser that mushroomed up and over the top of my snifter. Great dexterity though as it never fell down the side. Looks like whipped cream on a milkshake. It eventually faded back to a singular, off-white puff that floated in the center of my glass for the duration. Pours a darkened, hazy shade of blood-orange and copper. I expected more from the nose on this one. Malt, brown sugar, pine sap, macerated pineapples, oranges, and peaches. There are slight tinges of alcohol running around but for the most part the nose is subdued. Flavor is more of the same but the candy sugar and brown sugar seems to stand out the most. It is creamy and slick with a mildly bitter, sappy finish. MrBunn (1551), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 19, 2009 Updated: Jun 29, 2009Bottle courtesy of tpd975. Pours an orangish gold with a two finger head, lost of little bubbles rising to the surface and aromas that are intriguing, to say the least. Pineapples, oranges, caramel and light brown sugar make up the nose. Flavor is more of the same with quite a bit of honey sweetness and lots of fruitiness. This is a really interesting take on a barley wine. Tweety (344), Vancouver, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 14, 2009 Too damn malty for me. I need either a lot of age or a lot of hops on my barleywines. I’ve got another bottle sitting around, and I hope to revisit this one a few years down the road. padrefan98 (788), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA
