luttonm (274), Belgrade, Serbia Dec 12, 2008 Draft at Brouwers Big Wood 08. Roasty, bubbly brown pour with crispy head that has stayed around and laced. complex, sweet nose of malts. flavor is a huge blend .. you can pick out a lot of doggie claws with much more bitter malts and a touch of chalky sourness. almost can pick out all of the beers in this mix. so fascinating. trevor211 (499), Seattle, Washington, USA Dec 11, 2008 On draft at Brouwer’s Big Wood 08. Pours a deep, dark brown, with a fantastic pillowy head. The aroma is tantalizing. Wood, and lots of it. Sweet malts balance an acrid bitterness, but it’s like there’s so much to it that I can’t place individual notes. Like a good barleywine with more depth, a bit of sparkle and a wonderful complexity – even a bit like a great doppelbock. It’s almost *too* earthy – but still, very very good. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Dec 8, 2008 Clear brown with a tight tan head, nice lacing. Big fresh wood, raisony dark malt aromas. Medium body with light carbonation. Rich, complex earthy malty flavors of dark raisons, plums with spicy alcohol and wood, I could taste the Adam and Fred in this brew. Great blend. Draft at Bigwoodfest. tturner (103), , Washington, USA Dec 6, 2008 Big Wood Festival. pine and oak, mild subtle hint of apricot with larger more pronounced Fig/date - earthy fruits. dark and big. absolutely brilliant. boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Dec 4, 2008 An incredible brew for rating 600. 2006 vintage from Holiday Ale Fest 08... Poured amber with a thin, off-white head. Aroma of pine and savory malt. Palate was light, allowing the more robust and spicy flavors to remain dominant. Chalky and plum flavors, with woodsy notes like oak. Finished with a buttery spiciness that stung the palate a little. darn1207 (528), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Sep 11, 2008 got a taster of this at the hair of dog brewery in portland. mix of several of his brews (others have listed). was crazy complex and seemed a little different with each taste. smokey wood flavor on top of the thick sticky and spicey hair of the dog "taste". was definitely interesting, but would need more to give more specific rate. giving it a score anyway. BrewDad (2363), Olympia, Washington, USA May 12, 2008 5oz Taster - Fred Fest 2008 - Hair of the Dog Brewing - Portland OR

Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Mar 22, 2008 Jim 2, courtesy of Preston. This one was a blend of Adam, Doggie Claws, Spaten Pils and St Feuillien Tripel and then aged and bottled. Fiery amber colour. No apparent carbonation. Cantaloupey nose with raisins, spice, and all manner of gorgeous fruity things. Soft, mapley, fruity (melon, citrus) body. Lush malts and a peppery alcohol finish.
