12 oz bottle sent to me by bvc. Pour is deep dark brown, almost black with faint ruby highlights. Very small off white head rims the glass with large foam bubbles. Aroma of honey caramel maltiness, grainy black pepper, and soft yet full earthy notes. Full and rich, pretty nose. Taste is semi sweet dark chocolate, apple - black cherry and apple fruit (not sweet more of the skin of the fruits) grassiness, dusty earthiness, evident alcohol heat in the chest but not apparent in the flavor. Nice charred smoky sensation as well. Tobacco, straw notes. As with the nose, super full and rich. Palate is heavy medium, mouth coating but not overpowering. Long finish is the smoke notes, cherry skins and lingering alcohol. Reminiscent of Rochefort 10 - though with more layering and depth of flavor. Wow, gorgeous beer - thanks for grabbing this for me Brandon. At the time of rating, this is a top 10 beer for me.

Received 12-oz bottle via trade with 5000. Pours a hazy dark brownish amber brew with a quick dissolving off-white head that leaves behind a thin film. Aroma of smoked dark malt, bourbon and vanilla, a hint of apple and chocolate. Taste is medium to full bodied, very light carbonation with flavors of smoked dark malt, vanilla, candi sugar, apple, a hint of caramel and brandy. Finish is semi-sweet, a little thin but still has a nice oaked bourbon and smoked dark malt aftertaste.

Huge thanks to Skyview for sharing!!! Lots of bourbon biscuits on the nose with faint apple, vanilla, and oak. Nice dark color with no head. Massive oaky taste with molasses, vanilla, and bourbon biscuits. A little watery on the finish.

Thanks to Pantanap for sharing. Dark brown almost opaque with small beige pancake head. Cherry, apple aroma with barrel, beautiful, sweet, subtle smoke. Flavor is cherry, some alc, slightly sour, bourbon, sweet dark fruit, appe butter, dirty, earthy, smoke comes off as char, dates, alc finish, delicious. Medium to thin with watery body. What an amazing beer, one of the best that I’ve had in awhile, well since dirty horse.
