| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 9, 2009 12oz from 2005. Glad I got to try this . Bottle is about 3.5 years old to the day. I have to say this has the most unique appearance of any beer I’ve ever had, period. Pours a thick, milky rose color, completely cloudy. I thought it was mixed with sediment until the real sediment starting coming out, big, grainy purple things. Has the same sediment an old vintage port would have. In the glass it looks like Yoohoo or chocolate milk. No head and just really milky and strange looking. Crazy.
Aroma is subdued but I get some HOTD house character in there, some raspberries are also apparent underneath. A cream-like component is also present. Some vanilla as well. The berry component is actually fairly appealing. Flavor is strange, mead-like. Raspberries come out in the flavor along with a sharp, wine-like acidity that’s difficult to describe. Alcohol is still detectable which is a flaw in a beer with this ABV and age. Some fruity tartness is also present. This is very difficult to rate. It’s very interesting, not bad at all but I really can’t say I am enjoying it that much. I’m at a loss.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 2, 2009 2005 edition thanks to Eric. Pours a...what the hell is this? A red-strawberry color like a thick milkshake. A bubbly pink-white head. The aroma is interesting; strawberry, cassis, sweet berries and some odd alcohol. The flavor is interesting as well; tart cassis, sourness, wood, strawberry milkshake, super weird. A huge amount of pink particulates, soupy. Not bad, very unique.
