bitbucket (2024), Kirkland, Washington, USA Oct 29, 2009 Magnum, batch 39. Pours cloudy gold with white ring of foam. Light body and carbonation. Fruit-coated toffee and bread aroma and taste. Dry finish. Pinball (2678), Allerød, Denmark Oct 6, 2009 bottle.
clear brown amber, small white head.
aroma is sort of smoked, sawdusty.
flavor is slightly sourish, ytellow fruits, raisins, yeasty. Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Sep 1, 2009 Bottled, Batch 40. Poured clear honeyed orange with a short cap of white head, even when agitated. The aroma was quite sour with cherry vinegar and lactic notes leading.. a bit of apple tails off the back. The flavor was dominated by the sourness as well, with dry vinegar, oak, and darker fruits responsible.. honey sweetness and cardboard supported.. sour, rather quick finish. Medium-bodied with low carbonation on the palate.. the sourness wasn’t expected, nor was it welcomed in here.. I could tell that there was decent stuff deep down, but it was drowned out. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Aug 17, 2009 Batch 39. Hotd rose- dusty sweet oxidized, nutty? Apple. Yeasty sweet. Floral notes on the nose. Hazy ass end pour orange brown hues. No head. Vegetal odd. Dusty oxidized apples bread. Medium to large carb. Dirt and earth. Meh. 7 3 6 3 13
alexsdad06 (1054), Ohio, USA Jul 4, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy deep copper color with very little head. The aroma is floral, fruity, sweet bread, and some caramelized sugar. The flavor has a nice dose of dark fruits, moderately sweet malt, and caramelized sugar. I get some floral notes and perhaps this is what the bitterness comes from. The alcohol also shows from time to time. There is something else that I can’t place, but distracts from the overall. I failed to record the batch # so this could have had some age. scrizzz (1246), kirkland, Washington, USA Jun 29, 2009 Updated: Aug 12, 2009Batch 39. Dark dijon mustard and murky, very dry grassy aroma on the edges and blackberry patch. Dark hazelnut side to the classic honey cotton nectar tripel side, but I don’t think they’re as together as they were. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Jun 28, 2009 Magnum, batch 39. Thanks, MegaMaltMan! Wow, what a treat. Pours avery slightly hazy light amber with loose clear bubbles. Gets much, much cloudier just a couple more inches into the neck. Caramel, sweet cream, and brown bread on the nose. Creamy, sticky body. Creamy, dusty, green apple-y, and caramelly mid-palate. Lovely stuff. The age serves it well. ketchepillar (475), Viña del Mar, Chile Jun 15, 2009 Thanks to someone at IBU. Not really a tripel. Tons of beets in the aroma and flavor. Other than that its nicely floral. Nice dryness in the finish. Beets.
