Commercial Description:
Rose is named for Portland, Oregon, the Rose City. Originally called Golden Rose, this Beer started life as a straight forward Belgian Tripel and evolved into a Beer made with beets, hibiscus flowers and pink peppercorns. She has always been inspired by the Belgian style known as Tripel, which has a low level hops and is deceivingly light in body for its alcohol strength. This is achieved through the use of imported Belgian candi sugar. Not Brewed since 2005.

Pours a golden brown, like burnt french fries. Big fluffy frothy head. Aroma of zesty fruit, apple and pear, malty sweetness and yeast. Tastes of sugary malty goodness and pear along with a hint of yeast sediment, which I poured out. Strong feel of carbonation on the tongue. You definitely get the warming feel of the alcohol but it is fairly well hidden. Another very solid offering from Hair of the Dog.

Murky brown, small white head. Aroma is banana, candy sugar and light fruits. Flavor is pears, apples, honey, candy sugar, floral hops. Some caramel and spiciness. Thin mouthfeel but lots of carbonation. Kinda lacking something.

Thanks to crizay for sharing. Pour is a murky brown and has a little white head. Aroma is sour with hints of floral and citrus...a bit like wine. Flavor is of flowers, tart and a bit of citrus. I’m not sure if this was a bad bottle, bit it tasted a bit off.

Bottle conditioned and enjoyed at Volo. Poured a nice reddy caramel colour, with a rapidly diminishing head. Nose was floral and a aroma I just couldn’t nail down. Predominant flavour was equally elusive - is it fruity or is it more vegetable? I looked at the bottle and realized that I was picking up on the beets added to the brew. Not like any other tripel flavour I’ve ever come across, but recommended. Finish left a nice hoppy dryness. Interesting drink, if only for the novelty value.

Pours a murky orange with a tiny head. Head was gone in an instant. Floral aroma with some yeast. Yeasty flavor with a bit of malt sweetness. Dry finish. Not a great triple.

RBSG 2007 Grand Tasting. Happened to find a rating I never entered. 3L bottle that seemed fairly old. No batch number written on the bottle. Murky brown body with a small white head. Sweet fruit and molassas aroma. Very sweet fruit flavor, lots of molassas and caramel.

Bottle. Hazy amber color with a light white head. Sweet flowery aroma with light fruit notes. Fruitful, and light flower flavor notes. Sweet light alcohol palate.
