Commercial Description:
Rose is named for Portland, Oregon, the Rose City. Originally called Golden Rose, this Beer started life as a straight forward Belgian Tripel and evolved into a Beer made with beets, hibiscus flowers and pink peppercorns. She has always been inspired by the Belgian style known as Tripel, which has a low level hops and is deceivingly light in body for its alcohol strength. This is achieved through the use of imported Belgian candi sugar. Not Brewed since 2005.

Color was yellow/orange; nice. Visible sediment. Aroma of alcohol, yeast and fruit. Taste was much of the same with floral hints and a beet/fig taste. Not a big fan of the taste. Could see others really enjoying it though.

Batch # 40 : A deep and dark brown abbey x 3 with a short lived head that fizzed out into the abyss rather quickly. The aroma is strange and smells like cocain has just been cut and is set up in lines. Even the flavor, i taste nothing but coke, its as if just gave my self a liquid form of a gummer in my mouth with each sip besides my tongue and gums arent going numb. I even have the bitter and salty aftertaste. Im so tripping out on this beer right now im tempted to go get a 8 ball just to reassure my tastebuds im not a ex coke fiend lunatic.

Batch 39, purchased at the Foodery in Philly. Pours hazy orange with a subtle fizzy white head. Aroma of apple cider, straw, and flower petals. Initial flavor of lettuce greens, flowers, and nuts. Middle is honey and pepper. Semi dry bitter finish. This is a well crafted earthy beer, but I did not personally care for these flavors. I felt like I was drinking beer from a vase of roses. I consider this more of a spice beer. Sorry Alan!

Bottle from Fred Meyer, Portland. Cloudy russet colour with thin beige head. Very nutty, like hazelnuts roasted. Not much of a Belgian tripel. Nice in mouth, some syrupy malt. More nuts and then some hop. Nutty, slightly acidic. Drying hop finish. Quite nice, but bizarrely nutty.

"Rose" pours a medium amber color into a hazy body, crowned by an average, white fizzy head that fully diminishes before long. Aroma is simple, of light yeast and alcohol. Initial taste is a heavy hit of sweet, somewhat regressing to a medium sweet at the finish, with a very long duration on the palate. Medium body on the mouth, a creamy texture and soft carbonation are left behind as we ponder the next sip.
