Commercial Description:
Rose is named for Portland, Oregon, the Rose City. Originally called Golden Rose, this Beer started life as a straight forward Belgian Tripel and evolved into a Beer made with beets, hibiscus flowers and pink peppercorns. She has always been inspired by the Belgian style known as Tripel, which has a low level hops and is deceivingly light in body for its alcohol strength. This is achieved through the use of imported Belgian candi sugar. Not Brewed since 2005.

Thanks to someone at IBU. Not really a tripel. Tons of beets in the aroma and flavor. Other than that its nicely floral. Nice dryness in the finish. Beets.

Golden Rose Batch 14 bottle shared by ajm. Ages like a champ. Pours a dark amber color, like a barleywine, with a trim beige head. Awesome sediment. Brimming with brown sugar. The yeast is so subdued I can’t believe this is a tripel. Tastes like the best caramel apple you’ve ever had. Dope.

Pours a nice slightly hazy straw color with a thin head. Aroma is of sweet malt. Flavor starts out sweet with some fruitiness, but then the peppery flavor kicks in and lingers around for quite a while. This is a bit too peppery for me, but not bad overall.

Batch # 40. Pours an orange amber color with a forthy long lasting off-white head. Aroma is a bit floral, but there’s some nice Belgian action going on there as well. Flavor is pretty robust, some floral notes, some spiciness, a good yeast kick, but the mouthfeel is a little watery for some reason. And the finish is just a touch on the boozey side. Interesting tripel though.

Yellow straw body with small gently fading head. Lots of sediment. Smells okay with some citrus and sugar plus a little alcy. Taste is mostly alcohol though with some white sugar and a hint of apple and maybe unripe plum. Ddin’t really care for this one.

Bottle from Sam at the Stuffed Sandwich - Batch 14 opened in 2009. Poured not golden, but like an actual rose color - like Lucky 13. Nose is very mellow - no trace of yeast or wheat. Very sweet malt profile, this is the overriding favor. Also notes of slight wood and brown apple flesh. The sediment was like the powdery dark flakes that brake mechanics know well.

Poured yellow with a white head. Aroma of fruit and candy. Candy and fruit throughout.
