Commercial Description:
Rose is named for Portland, Oregon, the Rose City. Originally called Golden Rose, this Beer started life as a straight forward Belgian Tripel and evolved into a Beer made with beets, hibiscus flowers and pink peppercorns. She has always been inspired by the Belgian style known as Tripel, which has a low level hops and is deceivingly light in body for its alcohol strength. This is achieved through the use of imported Belgian candi sugar. Not Brewed since 2005.

Pours deep clear amber with pinkish thick tight head. Alcohol, beet and strong malt aromas. Strong beet flavors and mellow roasted malts. Nice clean aftertaste.

Bottle from Brigadier. Waited a while on this one. Sour, cherry vanilla aroma when first opened which then deepened into a nice chocolatey, orange aroma. Body was full of a bready, yeasty, mineral, dirty fruit flavor, but the finish was disappointing with nothing significant to comment on.

older bottle I’ve been holding for a good day, today was one, so I opened it. Batch 14, says Golden rose, 6% alc. Hissed slightly, but poured with no head. Dark fruits dominate, thick, malty, very much not my style, but this sample was very smooth and nice, aging has helped it, but should have drank it earlier.lol. Still very good.

Thanks to malachi for sharing the bottle. Light estery aroma with a touch of banana and floral notes. Like a soft perfume. Super cloudy and straw-brown with a thin, white head. Rough, grainy, musty flavor wit ha touch of over-ripe banana and a touch of charcoal and chocolate. Light mouthfeel, nice and crisp.

The aroma had citrus, fermented dark fruit, malts, and yeasty. The beer poured a yellow orange color w/ thin lasting head and lacing. The flavor had grapefruits, malts, yeasty and light fermented fruit. The mouthfeel was soury, creamy and light to medium bodied.

Bottle at Volo. Rosy (sic!) amber in appearance. Medium fine crown on top. Mild, sweet aromatic, fruity malt, sweet cherry and alcoholic finish. Medium bodied, despite solid malt base dry alcohol is to prominent, sweet fruity sugar was rather shallow. Needs longer maturing?

Out of a 12 oz bottle, this beer poured with almost no head. The aroma is very powerful with notes of vanilla and oak. Flavor is similar to the aroma, with sweet toffee and heavy malt permeating the experience. Not overwhelmingly enjoyable since it is essentially too sweet. It was, however, multidimensional with a shortish dry finish.
