Commercial Description:
Rose is named for Portland, Oregon, the Rose City. Originally called Golden Rose, this Beer started life as a straight forward Belgian Tripel and evolved into a Beer made with beets, hibiscus flowers and pink peppercorns. She has always been inspired by the Belgian style known as Tripel, which has a low level hops and is deceivingly light in body for its alcohol strength. This is achieved through the use of imported Belgian candi sugar. Not Brewed since 2005.

"Batch 37 as well and take care when pouring the head was way way out of control, nice and thick head though. As a triple was okay. Nothing outstanding. Poured nice golden color, Has a sweet malty taste to it and could taste the hops, litte bitter as i got close to the bottem. Like i said good but not great. "

Bottle. Pours a deep brownish golden color with a decent head. Very malty on the nose. That flavor continues on the palate as well as a thick alcohol bomb of a beer. Not very balanced and no discernable fruit or sweetness as indicated elsewhere. Honestly, I could not finish my 12oz. bottle especially with a few pieces of sediment floating in the bottom of my glass despite my slow pour.

Bottle. Batch 40. Dusty aroma. Sounds, and looks, like a soda being poured. I mistakenly poured it into a tumbler before realizing what style it was, and then transferred it into a tulip glass. Despite a small lasting head and lace being present in the tumbler after first pour, all of the head left the glass after the second pour almost immediately, although plentiful and lively carbonation continued to pour up from the bottom, seemingly being produced by the small amount of sediment that made it into the second pour. Hazy amber in color. Doesn’t taste right upon initial tasting. Could it be possible that the tulip glass was dirty? Alcohol hammers the palate at first sip and coupled with the strong dust aroma, caused me to gag. Flavor is peppery and tough to swallow. I am now wondering if I poured it too quickly and got too much of the sediment or if the double pour screwed up the beer somehow, or if the 2nd glass was dirty. I wouldn’t think that any of these would cause issues like this, however. Is it a bad bottle? This is simply not a very enjoyable brew. Very alcoholic inital and aftertaste. Harsh and dry and tastes unfinished. I had to pour most of it out. This has to be a bad bottle.

Reddish caramel cloudy body with medium rosy/white creamy head. Floral, citrus, yeast and beet aroma. Flavor is beets with some grass and floral balance. Smooth palate. Never had a beer that tasted like beets before. Not much of a tripel. Rather it reminded me of a good salad.

Batch 40. Yeasty aroma...smells like beer-bread. Fizzy pour, thick white head, slightly cloudy copper color, very vigorous carbonation. Sweet and spicy flavor, less fizzy than I thought it would be. Oaky (sp) aftertaste. Nice take on a Tripel...but still not quite like a real Belgian.

Batch 38. A gem. Abundant head leaving enormous cream at end. Belgian Golden colour. Floral with honey and candi aroma. Appropriate understaed carbonation, tasty yeast and spices including pepercorn. stacks up with Ommegang at the top of the American Belgian creations. Creamy mouthfeel, satisfying sweetness. Crisp clean finish.

really good but not at all like a tripel, ruby, thick w/ lots of carbonation but no head, grapey/winey aroma (not your typical sweet yeasty trtipel nose, berries, super dry herby basil-ish flavor, a beefy beer
